AYSO 1463 EXTRA PROGRAM

AYSO 1463 EXTRA PROGRAM
AYSO EXTRA is a PROGRESSIVE PLAYER PROGRAM designed to provide a more challenging level of soccer for AYSO players who have the interest, skills and abilities. It enhances that player's experience and individual growth through soccer while retaining the spirit of and organization membership in AYSO. EXTRA is not designed to overshadow or harm the standard primary program - rather the goal is to strengthen AYSO by recruiting and retaining players and volunteers through providing more competitive play the AYSO way - all EXTRA programs embrace the Six Philosophies of AYSO.

AYSO Section One has two playing circuits designated by East & West. Each circuit will play within their circuit and maintain separate standings. Cross circuit play may be necessary in some divisions in order to give every team a competitive playing season.

WHAT IS AYSO EXTRA?

For those who want to play harder and remain a part of AYSO 1463, EXTRA is perfect! This program gives AYSO youth athletes a more progressive soccer experience. With the right balance of competition and inclusion, you can feel secure knowing your child is part of a trusted organization and will be given fair playing time.

HOW ARE AYSO EXTRA TEAMS ORGANIZED?
Selection to Extra teams are based on open and fair evaluations. Teams are chosen to create a competitive balance. In addition, AYSO's Core Philosophies are still in place and all of our Extra players will play at least 50% of each game. A fair amount of play time for ALL of our EXTRA players is incredibly important to AYSO and AYSO 1463.

ABOUT THE EXTRA PROGRAM

THE PURPOSE OF THE EXTRA PROGRAM
AYSO EXTRA is designed to provide a more challenging level of play for those players who possess the appropriate interest, skills and abilities and to enhance each player's experience and individual growth through the game of soccer while retaining the spirit and organization of AYSO. The goal of EXTRA is to strengthen AYSO by retaining players and volunteers in additional primary programs operated under the AYSO philosophies.

About the Program
The Board of Directors of Region 1463 is committed to developing a world-class competitive soccer program that is focused on providing a more challenging environment and enhancing the training and development for our more serious soccer players. All interested players will attend a try-out in the Fall and/or Spring each year, where they will be evaluated by an assessment team.

Players who are chosen to participate, will be notified shortly after the last try-out. Players who are not chosen for one of the EXTRA teams, will be placed on a core team in the Fall season. Unlike the core program Fall season, EXTRA teams will be formed for a one year period competing against other EXTRA teams throughout the Inland Empire in both the Fall and Spring seasons as well as tournament play in the Spring and early Summer.

This program is geared toward the top 10-20% of players in each division.

Parents and Players
Participation in the EXTRA program requires a higher level of commitment from both parents and players. Unlike the standard recreational program(s) the Region offers, the EXTRA program demands more time and commitment and needs to be the player's primary sports commitment.

Players who participate in the EXTRA program cannot play in another competitive soccer program (i.e. Club). Your attendance at all team functions (practices, games, tournaments, and other events) is not only expected, but it is critical to a successful season. Parents and players are expected to adhere to all rules and regulations, the Philosophies of AYSO, and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner both on and off the pitch and treat others with respect.

FAQs

FAQs for the Extra Program

What is the Season Game Schedule Like for Extra?
The game schedule is very similar to that of the regular Fall season.  Games may start in August and run through December. Most games are on Saturdays but sometimes games may need to be played on Sundays as well.  Extra plays approximately half of their games in other regions around the Inland Empire, Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties.

Will Extra Team Players Have Fall or Spring Team Conflicts?
No. Extra teams are formed after the Fall or Spring team seasons are over.  Players will never have to choose between the two.

Can an Extra player play on a Fall or Spring Core Team?
No. A player is only allowed to play in one program.  Extra teams require a higher level of commitment that is difficult to maintain if a player is on multiple teams.

How Many Tournaments do Extra Teams Participate In?
There is no limit but most teams play between 4-6 tournaments in Spring and 1-3 tournaments in Fall/Winter.
