Volunteer Training

Other than training seminars available on AYSO U, specifically with AYSO Region 1463, other training seminars will be made available throughout Southern California AYSO regions that you can take advantage of. Information on upcoming seminars can be found below.

This is an opportunity to further develop your referee skills in classes taught by some of Southern California's top instructors. 

The Regional Referee course is one day (either Saturday or Sunday)
The Basic Referee Companion Course is only available to students who've completed the Online Basic Referee Course in AYSOU. (Sunday)
The Intermediate and Advanced Referee Courses will two days long (Saturday & Sunday)

Important to Know

Volunteer Application
Every volunteer (coach, referee, board member, team parent, etc.) must submit a Volunteer Application each year. They are delivered to AYSO National Headquarters for an annual background check, which screens for volunteers’ suitability to work with our participants.

Steps on how to Sign up to Volunteer: 

1. Go to your BLUE SOMBRERO site and sign into your Account (the same site you signed up your child with): BLUE SOMBRERO SITE

2. When you’ve signed into your Account, on the Blue Sombrero dashboard, go ahead and select the VOLUNTEER TAB.

3. In the next screen, select the FIND VOLUNTEER ROLES orange button on the upper right.

4. On the next screen, select the 2019 Spring Season, then select VIEW AVAILABLE POSITIONS.

5. On the next screen, select the SIGN-UP button for the role you're looking to Volunteer for (ie. Referee, 6U Coach, 8U Coach, etc).

6. On the next screen, hit CONTINUE again.

7. Make sure to fill out all the information they’re requesting on this next page. This may take you some time. 

8. Continue to fill everything out during this flow until you’re completely done with this process. Once this occurs, AYSO 1463 should get a notification stating that you’ve signed up to be a Volunteer.


Safe Haven Training
All volunteers in must attend the Safe Haven course in person. All volunteers are required to complete this prior to receiving team contact information and prior to holding team practice, so please complete the course at your earliest convenience. Please check our Calendar for the next clinic or click on the AYSOU (tab above) to find classes offered at other regions nearby.

Concussion Awareness Class (online)
All coaches/referees are required to complete this short webinar. Please submit a Volunteer Application before accessing the short webinar. This is also recommended (not required) for Team Parents.

  2. Click the Home tab (left)
  3. Click the AYSOU tab (top navigation) and click Login
  4. Click My Courses and choose CDC Concussion Course
