WYSL Travel Soccer Games Need Referees
Support Youth Sports, Gain Job Experience, Work Flexible Hours, Earn Great Pay!
Rivertowns United travel teams play in the Westchester Youth Soccer League (WYSL). The WYSL hires certified referees to officiate its matches. To encourage referees to sign up for Rivertowns United home games and to promote refereeing in general, Rivertowns United created a reimbursement offer.
Please note that we are a soccer club. We don't train, certify, or assign referees. Having a pool of qualified referees available to officiate our home games benefits our teams and our soccer community. Find helpful links to referee organization websites below – and follow those links to learn about becoming a certified soccer referee
*** REIMBURSEMENT OFFER *** If you referee THREE Rivertowns United games, Rivertowns United will reimburse you for the USSF training cost (new or recertifying) and the cost of the referee association dues. See below for details.
What do referees get paid? For officiating a WYSL match, rates range from $55 to $105, depending on the age of the teams playing. Find the 2022/2023 rates paid by the WYSL here: https://www.wyslsoccer.org/page/show/5042949-fees-2022-2023
Who is eligible? Anyone 14+ who becomes a USSF certified referee
What is USSF referee training? The U.S. Soccer Federation provides referee training and certification (similar to the Red Cross training and certifying lifeguards). The cost is $170, and advance registration is required. There are three parts:
>>> 4 hours of self-paced online coursework -- this needs to be completed a week before the Zoom course date
>>> 2 hours of a Zoom class, led by an instructor
>>> 2 hours in-person training on a soccer field, led by an instructor
Where can I find more information and sign up for training? Find registration instructions, detailed information, dates for upcoming courses, and trainer contact information on the websites of the Westchester Soccer Referee Organization (WSRO) and the Eastern New York Soccer Referee Association (ENYSRA):

How do I get recertified once my badge expires? Active referees need to renew their certification each year. The recertification coursework is done through online modules and referees should use the same username and password so that the system recognizes them as returning referees. Find instructions here:
https://enysreferee.org/recertifiction/
What do I do after I am certified, or recertified, to be able to sign up for WYSL games? The WSRO advises that you need to notify the WYSL assignor, Victor Borges, that you have just gotten your certification, and he will advise/set you up in the Arbiter system where you can sign up for games and later, get paid for games. Victor's email is: [email protected]
TRAVEL SOCCER REIMBURSEMENT OFFER FROM RIVERTOWNS UNITED FC
We created our reimbursement offer to encourage teenagers and adults to become certified referees and incentivize them to officiate Rivertowns United's WYSL home games. This offer applies only one time per calendar year. It is valid through the end of Spring 2023 WYSL soccer season.
If you referee THREE Rivertowns United games, Rivertowns United will reimburse you for the USSF training cost (new or recertifying) and the cost of the WSRO dues.

Below is an example of a PC screenshot of several games. The payment amount in GREEN indicates that the game took place and you got paid (if it is in black, that just means you signed up which is not adequate for reimbursement). Below is example of a single game screenshot from a cell phone. Either of these screenshots might look different from a PC, Mac, or tablet.
For your convenience, here is a list of Rivertowns United WYSL travel team home fields. For the offer to apply, the match needs to be on one of these home fields, with a Rivertowns United team playing in the match -- OR -- an away game, with Rivertowns United team playing in the match.
