Recreational Soccer for Fall 2023/Spring 2024

Welcome to Rivertowns AYSO, Region 324, New York. Thank you for your interest in our recreational soccer program -- the foundation for all the fun, excitement, and learning that happens on the fields! It is where kids fall in love with soccer and make memories that last a lifetime. Please read everything so you are fully informed before you sign up.

PROGRAM SUMMARY: Rivertowns AYSO recreational soccer is a weekend program that includes age-appropriate and engaging soccer activities for players from preschool through middle school. A highlight of our program is that NYCFC Coaches provide professional training and a world-class soccer curriculum at all age levels -- complementing the efforts of the dedicated volunteer parent coaches. Preschool and kindergarten groups - NYCFC coaches lead the groups - 60 mins 1X per weekend

1st/2nd-grade teams - NYCFC coaches lead the teams, with help from any parents who volunteer to supplement the efforts of pro coaches - 90 mins 1X per weekend combines practice and game

3/4/5/6/7/8th-grade teams - Volunteer parent coaches lead the teams at Saturday practices and Sunday games. On Saturdays, NYCFC coaches provide the training curriculum and hands-on assistance to all the teams on the field - 60 mins Saturday practice - 60-90 mins Sunday game (depends on age level)

IMPORTANT: Our program is not drop-off. A parent or guardian must be present for each child's session -- do not sign up siblings at the same session time unless a parent or guardian can be at each field.

COSTS: $285 Rivertowns AYSO recreational program registration fee

+ $20 AYSO National Player Fee for each player (non-refundable)

+ $2.75 transaction fee the software adds on (non-refundable)

+$40 (approx.) uniform fee for new players (non-refundable)

PROGRAM DATES: Practice sessions and games are on weekends only, no soccer on holiday weekends. Specific weekend dates will be shared before the season starts.

Fall 2023 -- Mid-September to mid-November

Spring 2024 -- Mid-April to mid-June

LOCATION OF CLASSES AND GAMES:

For the past several years, we have held Rivertowns AYSO classes and training sessions at these locations -- we expect it to be the same, but if the location changes for any reason, we will let you know.

>> Pascone Park (Village of Ardsley Park at the entrance to the road leading to AMSl)

5th/6th-grade teams have home games at AMS and away games in other towns

7th/8th grade and HS teams have home games in Dobbs or Hastings and away games in other towns

SCHEDULE AND GROUPS: Our schedule is a projection. Groups need to have sufficient enrollment for our organization to be able to run them. If a particular group is under-enrolled, we may need to adjust the schedule, combine age levels/genders, or cancel the group. Please be aware of this when you register. We appreciate your flexibility, as we try to achieve the goal of having fully enrolled groups.

PLAYERS WHO ARE "OLD" FOR THEIR GRADE: Enter a birth year that allows your child to register for their school grade group, then go back and enter their correct birth year after you register.

FULL GROUPS/WAITLIST: Signing up for the waitlist is just like registering for a class but without payment. The system makes you think that just clicking the waitlist button is the only step -- not true. You need to click continue (or next), and do all the steps – shopping cart/checkout/etc. You will get an email confirmation if you do it correctly.

RESPECT OUR FIELDS: We are grateful to the villages and schools for the use of their fields and facilities. We are guests. We ask that all players and parents treat the equipment, fields, and grounds with respect. No dogs except service dogs, per the policies of the villages and schools.

RAINOUTS/WEATHER CANCELLATIONS: All of our fields are outdoors. Expect some rainouts, they are out of our control and happen in every youth sports program held outdoors. We send emails when activities are canceled due to weather and/or field conditions. In some cases, if inclement weather occurs later in the day or suddenly, the coach at the field has the authority to cancel.

VOLUNTEERING: Rivertowns AYSO volunteers are parents like you. Please consider volunteering. It is important that we infuse our program with volunteers at each age level because they represent that player and parent community best. Even if you do not take an active volunteer role, we ask that your mindset be “How can I help?”
