What to Expect in 12U (5th/6th gr), 14U (7th/8th gr), and 19U (HS)

Volunteer Parent Coaches are Vital

12U (5th/6th gr), 14U (7th/8th gr), and 19U (HS) teams are led by volunteer parent coaches. Parents from the collective of each age group and division need to volunteer. The number of teams that can be formed depends on the number of parents that volunteer to be coaches. This involvement is critical to the players' experience.

Once coaches are recruited, the volunteer division coordinator for each division can form teams, assign players to teams, and create the Saturday practice and Sunday game schedule.

Team Availability at the 14U and 19U Level

Having enough players to form a team is critical at the older age levels. The teams our regions fields varies each year based on this factor.

Saturday Practices

There is a team practice every Saturday for 1 hour on one of our local fields. The coaches determine the practice time at the beginning of the season and it remains at the same time for the entire season. Coaches lead the players in various fun drills that teach specific skills. There are often small-sided scrimmages. Parents are expected to stay (not a drop off) to support their children and help them learn and participate.

Sunday Games

12U and older players have games on Sundays. They play in an inter-regional AYSO league against other AYSO teams their age - 4 home games, 4 away games. Although the teams travel, this is not the same as our competitive travel program. The AYSO teams have open registration (no tryouts) and they still play by the AYSO rules (50% playing time per player at a minimum).

Why do they play inter-regionally? With only one, two, or three teams in each age group, there are not enough teams at the 12U and older level to play each other each Sunday.

With warm ups, and water breaks during the games, count on 75 to 90 minutes. The games are generally held between 10:30 am and 6:00 pm.

Once the schedule is final, the master scheduler posts it, which allows you to see it Team Central, when you log in to your family account at this web site
