Rivertowns United FC Code of Conduct

The mission of our club is to provide our players with a high level of year-round training and competition experience, which will enable them to become better athletes, better soccer players, and better teammates. To that end, we ask that all of our players observe the following standards in training and at matches:

1) Exhibit good sportsmanship at all times, whether on the field or on the sidelines; play hard to win, but also play fairly, and be gracious whether you win or lose (no matter how our opponents behave!).

2) Practice at game speed and with full concentration, recognizing that maximum effort in training creates good habits in games and breeds team success.

3) Use your time in practices and games to master both the skills and tactics of soccer and, equally importantly, to learn how to respect and love the game itself.

4) Wear proper equipment at both practices and games; wear your full team uniform (proper team socks, shorts, jerseys) during games.

5) Arrive on time for practices and games; if there is a legitimate reason to miss any team activity, let the coaches know well in advance.

6) Listen to your coaches and trainers; whether they are dedicated volunteers or paid professionals, they are giving 100% to make you better and deserve your respect at all times.

7) Never criticize your teammates. Instead, help them become better players by encouraging them both on and off the field.

8) Play soccer unselfishly: strive to keep possession of the ball, attack as a team, defend as a team, and show leadership by challenging for every loose ball.

9) Play seriously, but with joy and passion; having fun as you practice and play matches is definitely a good thing, while trying to be funny on the field is disruptive and bad for the entire team.

10)  Know that you represent yourself, your team, your club, and your community; strive to be your best self, so that win or lose, you have played and acted admirably.
