Fall Season information

The Fall season officially begins on August 1st. 

Required Volunteer Registration Process

All Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Referees, Team Managers, and any other type of volunteer, are required to register as volunteers every year. For information on how to register as a volunteer, please click on the 'Registration' tab.

Coach ID Badges

Coach ID badges will be provided for the current season for both new and returning coach volunteers.  Coaches are required to wear coach ID badges at all practices and games.

Practice Locations

• 5U-8U will practice at AYSO allowed parks and schools within the city limits.
• Alterra Park, Butterfield Ranch Elementary, Surrounding parks in the area.
• NO more than 2 hours in a week for 5U-8U, Practice are usually from 45 to 60 min long.
• Coach picks day(s) and times convenient to them. 

If a school site or park is not listed above, it means that AYSO does not have approval to use these fields for practices or games. If a coach wishes to practice at a site not listed, they must contact their division coordinator for approval before practice may commence at the requested location.

Practice sites at the above locations are not assigned and are on a first come basis. No division has priority of the fields.

Practice spaces at Community Park and Grand Avenue Park are assigned. If a team wishes to practice at one of these locations, they must be reserved by contacting the Assistant RC at [email protected]

Game/Match Guidelines

5U and 6U Divisions

• 4 – 5 minute quarters with a 5 minute half time break.
• Games are 5-V-5.
• Players are required to play a minimum of 3 quarters of the game.
• Player substitutions are performed on a quarter basis.
• Direct free kicks only (indirect free kicks are not allowed).
• No goal kicks or corner kicks.
• No throw-ins.
• No offside infractions.
• Goalkeepers are not permitted.
• Each team provides referee.
• Home team switches fields at half time.
• Coaches are not allowed on fields.
• Scores and standings are not kept.
  

8U Division

• 4 – 10 minute quarters with a 5 minute half time break.
• Games are 6-V-6. With Goal Keepers (keepers must be rotated)
• Players are required to play a minimum of 3 quarters of the game.
• Player substitutions are performed on a quarter basis.
• Free kicks (direct and indirect) are not allowed.
• Goal kicks, and corner kicks are performed.
• Throw-ins are performed.
• No offside infractions.

• Scores and standings are not kept.

10U Division

• 2 – 25 minute halves with a 5 minute half time break.
• Games are 7-V-7. A minimum of 5 players on each team are required for the game to be played.
• Players are required to play a minimum of 3 quarters of the game.
• Player substitutions are performed on a quarter basis.
• Rules and regulations are per FIFA’s Laws of the Game.
• Heading is not allowed.
• Coaches are not allowed on field.
• Scores and standings are kept.
• Teams are required to provide an assistant referee for their game.

12U Division

• 2 – 30 minute halves with a 5 minute half time break.
• Games are 9-V-9. A minimum of 6 players on each team are required for the game to be played.
• Players are required to play a minimum of 3 quarters of the game.
• Player substitutions are performed on a quarter basis.
• Rules and regulations are per FIFA’s Laws of the Game.
• Heading is not allowed.
• Coaches are not allowed on field.
• Scores and standings are kept.
• Teams are required to provide an assistant referee for their game.

14U Division

• 2 – 35 minute halves with a 5 minute half time break.
• Games are 11-V-11. A minimum of 7 players on each team are required for the game to be played.
• Players are required to play a minimum of 3 quarters of the game.
• Player substitutions are performed on a quarter basis.
• Rules and regulations are per FIFA’s Laws of the Game.
• Coaches are not allowed on field.
• Scores and standings are kept.
• Teams are required to provide an assistant referee for their game.

16U Division

• 2 – 40 minute halves with a 5 minute half time break.
• Games are 11-V-11. A minimum of 7 players on each team are required for the game to be played.
• Players are required to play a minimum of one half of the game.
• Free substitution of players is allowed.
• Rules and regulations are per FIFA’s Laws of the Game.
• Games are primarily played during the week.
• Schedules, scores, and standings are through Area 1U.

19U Division

• 2 – 45 minute halves with a 5 minute half time break.
• Games are 11-V-11. A minimum of 7 players on each team are required for the game to be played.
• Players are required to play a minimum of one half of the game.
• Free substitution of players is allowed.
• Rules and regulations are per FIFA’s Laws of the Game.
• Games are primarily played during the week.
• Schedules, scores, and standings are through Area 1U.

 Point System for Standings (10U-14U only)

For regular season division standings only:

• Win = (3) points
• Tie = (1) point
• Loss = (0) points
• Forfeit = (-1) points
• Red Card = (-2) points

Referee Points: Referee points are used to determine eligibility for the Fall Postseason Invitational Tournament and are not factored in division standings.

Forfeits: A forfeit will be recorded as a 1-0 win for the opposing team unless the match is a mutual forfeit. In this case, a (-1 point) will be recorded for both teams.

Goal Points: Points for scoring goals will not a component of the regular season standings in any division.

Final Standings

Tiebreakers: Any "ties" in the Final Standings will be resolved using the following tiebreaker sequence:

• Head to head results
• Fewest goals allowed during the regular season
• Goal differential (i.e. goals scored less goals allowed to a maximum of 3 per match. The highest differential wins the tiebreaker)
• Coin toss

Trophies, Medals, and Pins

The following awards will be provided to each team at the end of the season:

• Trophies are provided to the 5U/6U/8U and VIP divisions.
• Medals are provided to the 10U through 14U divisions at the completion of the team’s season.
• Pins are provided by Area 1U for the 16U and 19U divisions.

Post Season Invitational Tournament (10U-14U only)

• A post season invitational tournament is held at the conclusion of the regular season for the U10 through U14 divisions. The only requirement to be eligible for the post season invitational is that a team must maintain 25 points.

• Each team starts off with 30 points. 20 of these points are referee points and 10 are team sportsmanship points.

• Each team will be required to supply an AR for 10 games and a Center Referee for approximately 5 games.

• Each team will provide an AR for their own game to be positioned on their sideline.

• The Home team will be required to provide a Center Referee for the game prior to their own.

• In the instance of the last game of the day the Visiting team of the second to last game will provide the Center Referee for the Last game of the day.

• Referees will be assigned to teams. Coaches will submit a referee form with a list of their referees similar to that of a Tournament Referee Form. Ref Admins will verify eligibility.

• 2 referee points are deducted for each missed center referee assignment.

• 1 referee point is deducted for each missed assistant referee assignment.

• Sportsmanship points are deducted for coach ejections or warnings. Sideline behavior is key to keeping your points.

• A team not earning the required referee and sportsmanship points will not be invited to participate in the post season invitational tournament regardless of the team’s standings at the end of the season.

• The winners of the championship matches in each division will automatically advance to the Area 1B Fall Tournament which will be held in January.

• The Referee and Coach Administration will determine who is eligible based on points.
