Spring League

AYSO CHINO HILLS SPRING COMPETITIVE TEAMS

This is an AYSO travel team for players in the 10U-19U divisions that play in games and tournaments all across Southern California. It is a great way for the players to improve their skills as soccer players in a fun and competitive environment. The purpose of this team is to allow those players who have demonstrated skilled soccer ability and who have displayed an attitude for fair play, enthusiasm and cooperative team spirit to participate on a team of players who have similar qualifications.  Practices will begin in December and the season will end in June/July.  Tryouts are not held for spring select, the select coach is able to choose the players for their team.

Participation on this team requires an increased commitment from both parents and players, including attendance at all practices and games as well as a sense of responsibility toward coaches and other team members.  This team will compete in league play with neighboring AYSO regions as well as in tournaments.  These tournaments might include travel on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. The team is financially self-supporting,  fund-raising will be required for each player and parents are expected to participate.

PLAYERS

To be eligible for invitation, players must meet the following requirements
:

  • 10U-14U players, play at least 70% of the regular fall season games and a minimum of 75% of each game.

  • Note: EXTRA players are not eligible to participate on a Spring Select team.

The purpose of the program is to allow those players that have demonstrated and have displayed an attitude for fair play, enthusiasm and cooperative team spirit, to participate on team of players who have similar qualifications.

Participation on the teams requires an increased level of commitment from both the players and parents. Players are expected to punctually attend all games and practices and display a sense of responsibility towards the coaches and their teammates. Team may participate in Spring league(area play) and tournament play. Tournaments includes Sunday play and may involve travel. Each team is self funded and parents should expect to contribute between $600 per player.

It is recommended that both players and parents are involved in any team fundraising efforts. Contributions collected from fundraising efforts go directly to team and help to offset Spring team cost which is benefit to all team members.

How Many Tournaments do Spring Teams Participate In?
There is no limit, but most teams play between 5-7 tournaments in Spring from January through June.

What is the commitment level for Spring soccer?
A high level of commitment is expected from the coaches, players, and the parents.  Other obligations must be disclosed prior to accepting an offer to play Spring soccer.  Some players are involved in other sports and activities, Select/All-Star coaches require that training sessions and games take equal precedence with other activities. Parents will be required to volunteer at the Region 779 hosted tournament in March.

Do Spring Teams have tryouts?
Spring payers are selected by the Spring coach based on individual talent and achievements demonstrated during the Fall Core season.

Can players participate in Spring and Club Soccer?
Your child may be selected with the expectation that he or she will NOT participate in a Club program while playing in the Spring Competitive season, because the two programs require such high levels of commitment that a player on both a Club and a Spring Competitive team probably cannot satisfy his or her obligations to both teams. A player who joins a Club after being selected to participate on a Spring Competitive team may lose his or her place on the Spring team.
