If you are considering having your child participate in the All-Star program after the fall season, then you should become a referee. Each All-Star team must provide a team of 3 qualified referees (1 Center and 2 Assistant Refs). It is a requirement for participation in the program (see Post Season Referee Plan)
Referee volunteer requirements for the 2024 season: - On our Sport Connect website, returning referees need to login and volunteer as a referee for the MY2024 season.
- New Adult Referees, if you have an account, also need to login and volunteer as a referee.
- New Adult Referees without an account need to setup a new account and then register as a referee volunteer

Then fill out the required information and follow the remaining prompts.
AYSO is an all volunteer organization, and we need your help too!
AYSO Region 599 has a great group of referees, and every year we offer training to help new volunteers learn the basics of officiating. We need help at all levels of play, and we help to group experienced refs with newer refs for their beginning games. Some new referees choose to start as Assistant Referees, while others choose to start in the center, refereeing 8U games.
Match Reports
All referees are required to fill out a match report for any send offs.
In addition, Section 10/Area Q requires a match report for both cautions and misconducts that occur during 16U or 19U games.

Referee Plan
6U: There will be no referees scheduled. Coaches will act as game monitors.
8U: Every attempt will be made to schedule one referee. For each game, the home team will be assigned referee duties and should provide the referee. Note that this referee does not have to be an actual team parent. If you know of someone who is fully registered as an AYSO volunteer and has taken the online courses, that person can referee to fulfill your responsibility.
10U: Every attempt will be made to schedule one referee and two ARs for each match. In the event that an AR is needed, a parent will be asked to volunteer as a club linesman.
12U: Every attempt will be made to schedule one referee and two ARs for each match. In the event that an AR is needed, a parent will be asked to volunteer as a club linesman.
14U and up: Three referees will be scheduled for each match.
