At Region 69, we're not just about soccer; we're about building a warm, welcoming community where everyone feels at home. And the best part? We do this without ever compromising on the quality of our soccer training. We’re here to prove that world-class soccer coaching and vibrant community events can go hand-in-hand. Imagine top-notch training sessions, the latest gear, and expert advice for our parent coaches, ensuring that everyone from our youngest U5 players to our competitive EXTRA teams excel on the field.
But it’s not all about soccer. We love going the extra mile to bring everyone closer, like renting out the local theater for a movie night on a rainy day, kicking off the season with a free In-N-Out party, or bonding over a thrilling laser tag game. These aren’t just fun add-ons; they’re essential parts of our mission. By creating tighter bonds within our community, we’re laying a solid foundation for our kids, fostering stronger team connections, and ultimately enhancing their performance on the field.
Join us at Region 69, where you don’t have to choose between exceptional soccer training and a thriving community spirit. Here, you get the best of both worlds, all while being part of something that’s more than just a game.
REGION 69 AYSO SOCCER PROGRAMS:
We have developed our soccer programs to be age-appropriate and developmentally challenging based on our Six Philosophies, which are the essence of AYSO’s Mission and Vision and guide all that we do.
- Everyone Plays
- Balanced Teams
- Open Registration
- Positive Coaching
- Good Sportsmanship
- Player Development
FALL CORE PROGRAM (Ages 6-18)
Our core program is the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields in the FALL. This is where the large majority of our players start and fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime. The above mentioned 6 philosophies are the essence of our core program, and all of our other programs and it all starts with Everyone Plays. This means that no player spends their soccer experience sitting on the bench, they play at least 3 quarters of every game. Registration is opened to any player in the core program regardless of ability, as long as there is space. Teams are put together by gender and age, see AGE DIVISIONS, and are balanced in a way that makes playing soccer about the experience, not wins or losses. It’s not about blowing out another team with an unbelievable score; it’s about sportsmanship and learning to be the best possible teammate and opponent. Developing players is what we’re about because soccer skills and life skills go hand in hand. We want to get players on the field, provide them with good positive coaches, and teach them to play soccer.
5 & UNDER PROGRAM (Ages 3 turning 4 this calendar year)
Our 5U division is about exposing children to soccer as a game, without the pressure to win. The children are introduced to soccer skills like kicking and dribbling in a fun and nurturing environment. Best of all, they find out that soccer is something they can do!
On Saturdays, there will be a one-hour time slot for practice and a game experience. Our professional trainers work with the players for the first 30 minutes, then a 5-minute break, followed by a 20-minute game, with a 5-minute break at halftime. Players are expected to arrive 5 minutes prior to the time assigned (no earlier) so they are ready when the trainers begin.
6 & UNDER PROGRAM (Ages 4 turning 5 this calendar year)
The 6U division is also all about exposing children to soccer as a game, without the pressure to win. The children are introduced to soccer skills like kicking and dribbling in a fun and nurturing environment. Best of all, they find out that soccer is something they can do!
Players will be assigned a team and volunteer parent coach for Saturday games. During the week players can sign up for our optional 45-minute practice clinics. Simply select the day of the week and location that works best for your family. Then on Saturdays, join your teammates during your specified one-hour time slot for practice and a game experience. Our professional trainers work with the players for the first 25 minutes, then a 5-minute break, followed by a 25-minute game, with a 5-minute break at halftime. Players are expected to arrive 5 minutes prior to the time assigned (no earlier) so they are ready when the trainers begin.
PDP - PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (Ages 6-14)
PDP is an optional, invitation-only program for those kids who show a keen interest and are passionate about playing soccer at a higher level. PDP players will continue to play on their Core Fall Season Team with 1 practice per week and 1 game on Saturdays. In addition, PDP players will also participate in 1 PDP practice per week with 3-4 mini-tournaments on Sundays throughout the Fall.
This supplemental training program will be run by Corinne Briers and our wonderful staff of professional trainers.
Our aim with PDP is to give the more interested, more competitive players, a chance to not only experience the awesomeness of AYSO and playing on a Core regular season team, but to also play with and against better players and get introduced early to foundational technical skills, tactical fundamentals, and game intelligence.
AYSO All-Stars (Ages 8-14)
The All-Star Program provides an opportunity for skilled players to continue their AYSO soccer experience at an accelerated level by competing in tournaments against other All-Star teams from neighboring communities and states. All CORE players who have played in 3/4 of their league games (no more than 2 absences for reasons other than injury, illness, or late assignment) are eligible to try out for THEIR division’s EXTRA/All-Star/Tournament Teams. Tryouts are held in November. The Tournament Season begins with practice in December and extends to June.
AYSO EXTRA PROGRAM (Ages 8-14)
The AYSO Extra program is a competitive soccer league, starting in the Fall, designed to provide a higher level of play for those players who possess the appropriate skills, abilities, and drive. Games will be played with other regions from Area P as well as from Areas C, D and F. (From Pasadena to Rolling Hills, and sometimes Riverside) The Extra program is designed to enhance each player's experience and individual growth through the game of soccer while retaining the spirit, organization and six philosophies of AYSO: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams (balanced through competitive bracketing), Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development.
