Welcome to Nipomo AYSO Region 716!

Our Commitment to Families

Families deserve more than general statements. They deserve to know they have been heard, that their concerns are understood, and that the experience for their children matters.

At Nipomo AYSO Region 716, we understand that some families had frustrations and concerns about their experience in previous seasons. Those concerns matter. They are not something to dismiss, and they are not something we take lightly. Rebuilding confidence means doing more than simply saying AYSO is here. It means listening, responding, and doing the work necessary to improve the experience for players and families moving forward.

What We Heard

We know that families care about more than just having a team to join. They care about the overall experience their child has throughout the season.

We have heard concerns about communication, organization, referee availability, consistency, and the need for families to feel confident that the region is being led in a clear and responsible way. We also understand that families want to know what opportunities exist for their children to continue growing in the game and how Region 716 plans to move forward in a way that is stable, positive, and developmentally sound.

Those concerns are real, and they deserve a real response.

What Families Can Expect Moving Forward

Moving forward, Region 716 is focused on improving the areas that matter most to families.

That means stronger communication, clearer leadership, better organization, and more intentional support for the volunteers who make youth soccer possible. It also means continuing to strengthen the overall player and family experience by building a program that is positive, welcoming, and better prepared to serve the community.

We know that trust is built through actions, not words alone. Our commitment is to continue improving the experience families have with Region 716 by being more organized, more responsive, and more intentional in the way we lead and operate.

Referees and Volunteer Support

We understand how important referees are to the quality of the game-day experience. Referee shortages and volunteer demands are real challenges in youth sports, and AYSO’s volunteer standards in California are significant, including screening and training requirements designed to protect players and support a safe environment.

Rather than ignore that reality, Region 716 is committed to strengthening volunteer support, improving planning, and continuing to build a healthier foundation for the people who make the program work. A better experience for families depends on better support for coaches, referees, and volunteers, and that remains an important priority for the region.

Opportunities for Players

We also understand that families want to know what opportunities exist for their children as they grow in the game. AYSO’s recreational foundation remains one of its greatest strengths, but the broader AYSO structure can also support additional opportunities beyond Core depending on local leadership and capacity. Regional operations guidance allows Regions to offer programs such as tournaments, EXTRA, EPIC, Playground, Schoolyard, and other region-based opportunities as they are built responsibly.

At Region 716, our focus is on building that growth in the right way. That means strengthening the foundation first, supporting players at different stages of development, and creating opportunities that are age-appropriate, positive, and sustainable.

Why We Still Believe in AYSO

We continue to believe in AYSO because its foundation is built on values that still matter: Everyone Plays®, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. Those principles are not just ideas. They shape the kind of environment we want for children and families in our community.

AYSO’s structure also provides standards for volunteer screening, safety, training, and accountability. Those standards can require more work, but they also help ensure that the program is being delivered responsibly and with the well-being of players in mind.

Our Commitment

Nipomo AYSO Region 716 is committed to building a better experience for families through stronger leadership, clearer communication, improved organization, and a continued focus on what matters most: providing children with a positive, structured, and meaningful soccer experience.

We know families have choices. Our responsibility is to make sure Region 716 earns their trust through the way we lead, the way we communicate, and the experience we provide. That is the work ahead, and that is the commitment we are making to our families and our community.
