Nipomo AYSO Region 716 has proudly served families in Nipomo and the surrounding community since the 1989–1990 season. As part of the American Youth Soccer Organization, our region is built on a long-standing commitment to providing a fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate soccer experience for children of all backgrounds and ability levels.

AYSO has been a trusted part of youth soccer in communities across the country for generations, and Region 716 has long been a local reflection of that mission here in Nipomo. Our region is guided by the core AYSO philosophies of Everyone Plays®, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. These principles continue to shape the way we serve players, families, coaches, and volunteers.

At the local level, Region 716 is powered by dedicated volunteers who care deeply about providing a positive and inclusive soccer experience. Coaches, referees, team volunteers, and board members all play a role in helping our region operate and in creating an environment where children can learn, grow, compete, and enjoy the game.

We believe youth soccer should be accessible, community-centered, and rooted in strong values. For many families, AYSO provides an introduction to the game. For others, it remains an important part of their child’s development because of its emphasis on participation, sportsmanship, and age-appropriate growth. Region 716 is proud to carry that mission forward in Nipomo.

AYSO’s Six Philosophies are the principles that set AYSO apart from other youth sports organizations. These guiding values were created to ensure a positive, fair, and fun soccer experience for every player.

Everyone Plays®
AYSO’s goal is for children and adults to play soccer. Every player on every team is guaranteed to play at least 50 percent of every game, regardless of skill level.

Balanced Teams
Teams are formed as evenly balanced as possible each season. This creates a more positive learning environment, allows teams to compete against opponents of similar ability, and gives players the opportunity to play alongside a wide variety of teammates.

Open Registration
AYSO welcomes all players who want to play soccer. There are no elimination tryouts, and all youth and adults are given the opportunity to register and participate, as space allows.

Positive Coaching
Coaches play a critical role in a player’s experience. AYSO requires coaches to create a positive, encouraging environment that supports player effort, builds confidence, and promotes enjoyment of the game.

Good Sportsmanship
AYSO strives to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude. Good sportsmanship is expected from players, coaches, volunteers, and families in every part of the AYSO experience.

Player Development
AYSO is committed to helping players develop their soccer skills and understanding of the game at their own pace. Development is focused on both individual growth and teamwork, with the goal of maximizing each player’s enjoyment of soccer.

AYSO is committed to providing a safe, positive, and enjoyable soccer environment for all players, coaches, families, and volunteers. The AYSO Kids Zone program reinforces this commitment by promoting positive sideline behavior, good sportsmanship, and respectful communication.

Kids Zone encourages parents, spectators, and all participants to support players in a way that keeps the focus on fun, learning, and development. AYSO fields are intended to be safe, welcoming, and supportive places where children can play, grow, and enjoy the game.

The Kids Zone Pledge

Regions that participate in the AYSO Kids Zone program display signs and reminders at fields to reinforce positive sideline behavior. Parents, guardians, and spectators are expected to support the following Kids Zone guidelines:

Kids are No. 1
Fun, not winning, is everything
Fans cheer positively and coaches coach
No yelling in anger or criticism from the sidelines
Respect volunteer referees at all times
No swearing or abusive language or behavior
No alcohol, tobacco, or drugs
No weapons of any kind
Leave no trash behind
Set a positive example of good sportsmanship

These expectations apply to all AYSO events, including practices, games, and tournaments. Failure to follow Kids Zone guidelines may result in removal from the playing area, consistent with AYSO policies.
