The Fall Core Program is AYSO’s primary recreational soccer program and serves the majority of players each year. In AYSO Region 716, the Fall Core season typically runs from late August through late October.
The most recent Fall Core season has been completed. The information below is provided to help families understand how the program is structured and what to expect when registration opens for future seasons.
AYSO Philosophy
AYSO Region 716 operates in alignment with AYSO’s core philosophies of Everyone Plays, Open Registration, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. Players of all skill levels and experience are welcome, and there are no address boundaries. Players from surrounding communities may participate as space allows.
Player Registration
Registration for the Fall Core program opens prior to the start of the season. When registration is open, families may sign up online through the Registration page. Season dates, fees, and division availability will be posted at that time.
Coaching and Volunteering
AYSO is a 100 percent volunteer-run organization. Families interested in coaching or assisting with a team may indicate their interest during the player registration process. Training and support are provided, and no prior soccer experience is required.
Core Program Progression and Format
AYSO Region 716 offers programs for players ages 3 through 14. Divisions are structured to support age-appropriate development and long-term player growth, consistent with AYSO and U.S. Soccer guidelines.
Introductory Stage (Playground, Schoolyard, 6U and 8U)
This stage focuses on fun, movement, and basic soccer skills. Games are small-sided with simplified rules, no standings, and no goalkeepers. The emphasis is on enjoyment, confidence, and learning through play.
Development Stage (10U and 12U)
Players are introduced to expanded rules, goalkeepers, and team concepts. Training continues to emphasize technical development while gradually introducing tactical awareness. Referees are introduced, and scores may be tracked.
Transition Stage (14U)
Players transition to the full-sided game with increased emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Technical skills are reinforced while tactical understanding continues to develop.
