AYSO runs entirely on the dedication of volunteers. Without the support of parents, coaches, referees, and board members, our kids would not have the opportunity to enjoy this great sport. Every coach, referee, and member of our board volunteers their time and energy to ensure that children in our community can learn, play, and grow through soccer.

How to register as a volunteer

(All volunteers who interact with players or minors must register each membership year — August 1 to July 31.)

1. Online Volunteer Registration

• Click “Register Now” in the top-right corner of your region’s website.

• Follow the prompts to create an account and apply as a new adult or youth volunteer.

• Choose the role you’d like to volunteer for (coach, referee, team parent, etc.).

2. Background Check

3. Required Safety Training on AYSOU

Complete these online modules:

• Safe Haven

• Concussion Awareness

• Sudden Cardiac Arrest

• SafeSport training

You’ll need to upload your SafeSport certificate of completion to your volunteer profile.

4. Livescan Fingerprinting

• Email [email protected] to request the Livescan form.

• Complete the Livescan fingerprinting process.

• Upload your Livescan confirmation to your account.

5. Role-Specific Training

Youth volunteers

AYSO welcomes youth volunteers! Helping out with AYSO is a great way to give back to the community and can often count toward school-required community service hours.

Possible Opportunities

Youth volunteers can support the program in many ways, such as:

• Youth Trainers: Assist with practices and skills development. (See registration and training info.)

• Refereeing: Get trained as a referee and officiate games. (See our Referee page for details.)

• Registration Events: Help set up for registration days and distribute flyers in the community.

• Uniforms: Assist with sorting, organizing, and packaging uniforms for teams.

Registration & Training

Youth volunteers who wish to serve as Referees or Youth Trainers must complete the same registration and training steps as adult volunteers, including:

• Submitting a Volunteer Application Form each year

• Completing the required online training modules

• Attending role-specific field or referee training sessions
