Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
No prior soccer knowledge or experience is required to take our training courses. In fact, enthusiastic, positive individuals with no soccer background often make excellent coaches!

Anyone 18 years or older may apply to be a head coach or assistant coach. Youths ages 12–17 may apply to be a youth trainer, assisting adult coaches with a team of players at least two years younger.

To coach or serve as a youth trainer in Capay Valley AYSO, please complete the steps outlined below.

Coach certification is a one-time requirement that fulfills the training requirement for that age division and all younger divisions. In addition, you’ll need to complete any required safety and background courses. You can view these in your volunteer profile. Your account will show the specific requirements for you. To be eligible, your profile must show as “compliant” in all listed steps.

Steps to Volunteer or Coach with Capay Valley AYSO

1. Register as a Volunteer

• Each volunteer must have their own account with a unique email. Youth volunteers or partners must either create their own account or be added to a primary account and accept an invite.

• Sign in at www.capayvalleyayso.org, navigate to your Volunteer tab, and click Open Volunteer Positions.

• If you’ve already registered, your Volunteer tab will indicate your current volunteer status.

2. Complete Required Online Courses

• Login to your account, click the Volunteer menu, and select AYSOU under your name.

• On the training site, click Training Library.

• Under Safe Haven Courses, click View Courses and complete the following:

  1. Safe Haven Online Course

  2. CDC Concussion Awareness Online Course

  3. Sudden Cardiac Arrest Online Course

3. Complete SafeSport and Fingerprinting (18+ only)

• Begin SafeSport Training here.

  • If the enrollment key does not work, click the three lines in the upper right → Dashboard → Course Catalog → Safe Sport for US Soccer Federation → Enroll.

• Discuss fingerprinting requirements with your District Commissioner (DCA).

4. Attend the Appropriate Training Course

• All courses include classroom and field instruction.

• 10U and above also have an online component.

To Access Online Courses:

• Login → Volunteer menu → AYSOU → Training Library → Coaching → View Courses → Enroll/Take the course.

To Enroll in In-Person Courses:

• Login → Volunteer menu → AYSOU → Training Event → Find the appropriate event by division on the calendar.

• In-person dates are posted under the In-Person section.
