FAQ
My child is 4, but it is trying to put my child in U6? How can I get them in the right division?
The "U" stands for "Under" so 6U is "under 6", you are in the right age group. This applies for every division. You can look at the "Age Determination" link under policies to see the national determination. The system will not allow you to register for a division you are not supposed to be in UNLESS you put in the wrong age during registration.
My child is not challenged in their division, can they play up? My child is not good enough to play with peers, can they play down?
Please see our policy on playing up. We do not allow players to play up due to skill level. This is a national policy. We do however sometime have players play up to fill holes in older divisions. There is a process to go through that you can see on the policy page.
Playing down is not allowed in any division. However, please know that we are a recreational league. Players of all skill levels are welcome and we have new players starting when they are 14. Your child will be welcome on whatever team they are assigned to.
My child needs to be on his friend's team so that I can carpool.
We only take team requests for 6U-8U and only as far as we can balance the teams using their ages and years of experience. Balanced teams are a principle of AYSO that you can read about here: https://ayso.org/ayso-core/ Because of balance teams, we do not allow any requests for 10U and above. The teams are created in a blind system using evaluations either by the computer (10U-12U) or by coach draft (for 14U and up) so that the teams will be fair. Coaches will always be with their child.
The season dates say July-July? Why?
Registration is when people are allowed to register. We keep registration open in case we need to add people late to the season due to injury, last minute drops, etc. The season lasts an entire year because that is how long the yearly fee works for. Some older divisions, like U14-U16 may choose to do tournaments past our normal season and have games that are in February - June of the Spring following the Fall season. The national fee of $25 that pays for player insurance/website/etc, cover the player for the entire year in AYSO so we leave the play time open for the entire year. Our actual play season is August -Early November.
