Castaic AYSO - Region 1441

Coaching children is a very rewarding experience. And coaching your own child's team can be one of the most rewarding experiences of all! Coaches are pivotal to having children get the AYSO experience. If our region does not have enough coaches, registration is scaled back, and kids who want to play in AYSO may be turned away.

Do you have little or no experience with soccer? No problem! AYSO will teach you based on the age level you are coaching. Unique age-appropriate coach training is one of AYSO's specialties. If you plan to be at your child's soccer practices and games, you'll also have time to be your child's coach.

To become an AYSO coach, you must be certified in the age level you are coaching. Certification takes three easy steps. First, fill out a volunteer form. Then either attend a short Safe HavenTM course in person or online. Lastly, you must attend a brief age-specific coaching course. It's only a few hours  (more info below).

Coaches are essential to the game. They teach children soccer skills and help develop a healthy, positive attitude, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Coaching is a rewarding experience because you have the opportunity to build a child's self-esteem, help them learn new skills and just have a lot of fun.

We hope that you will seriously consider participating and assist our region by volunteering to be a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach.

FAQs

Gamecards: For 10U and up - here is the typable game card: https://aysovolunteers.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/AYSO-lineup-card-combined-7-19.pdf  Remember print on cardstock and bring to games.  I will have some available at equipment pick up that you can write on if you would like.  Before the first game, rather than having you check them at uniform pickup, I will ask that you send me a picture of a completed gamecard. Here is a good explanation of how to fill in a gamecard  -our region is #1441, your team number is on your roster (i.e. 10UG17).  I've also attached an excel worksheet that Jonathan Burk (or Regional Referee Admin) did.

Printing Medical Forms: Here is the link for how to print medical forms.  The system automatically attached a bunch of volunteers to your rosters - whoever signed up at registration and their associated child is on your team.  However if any of them have not done their background check it will not let you print.  Please let me know if you need help printing your medical forms:  https://wiki.ayso.org/wiki/Printing_Player_Forms_as_a_Coach

Standard Policies and rules: In most cases, the rules and regulations for the national AYSO applies to our region.  The only time they do not, is when our regulations are more strict.  One example is our regions 3/4 rule that states that all players must play 3/4 before a player takes an additional quarter off.  In other words, before any player rests for 2 quarters, everyone must rest for 1.  Please look over the coach meeting notes for further rules and clarifications.
