Important information from AYSO
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOU HAVE VOLUNTEERED
Background Check - You should have already received an invitation from
[email protected]. Please follow the link to complete your Background Check ASAP. Due to County, State and Federal reporting, Background Check Processing can take up to 10 business days. Self disclosures can add an additional 5 business days.
Access to Training - You will have access to AYSOU 24 HOURS after you complete your volunteer application. You will access AYSOU from this page by clicking HOME, from the HOME page, use the AYSOU tab. Your login credentials are the same username and password you created to access this site.
Additional Users - If you invited an Additional or Secondary User to your account, or you are the Additional User you must accept the invitation sent via email from Sports Connect and create your own username and password. To access training, the Additional User will also need to wait 24 HOURS after creating login credentials.
For all new Referees - steps for returning referees too!
To become a referee, please do the following 4 steps.
- Submit the volunteer form - whether new or returning
- Complete the online classes - whether new or returning
- Complete the In Person training
- Register as a referee so you can sign up for games

Note - The steps are sequential - do them in order
Step 1: COMPLETE YOUR VOLUNTEER FORM
- To get to the form
- Go to www.ayso397.org and click the "Register Now" button in the upper right corner
- You'll be on the Sports Connection page
- Either log in to your existing account or create a new account (you must have your own account)
- Click on the "Volunteer Opportunities" tab, and fill out the form
Be sure to write down or note your AYSO ID where you can reference it.
IMPORTANT - NO TRAINING can be taken IF YOU HAVE NOT SUBMITTED A VOLUNTEER FORM.
Step 2: COMPLETE THE ONLINE CLASSES
Log in to https://aysou.org with your same credentials. Click on “Online Courses” in the top red bar, or scroll down to “Online Courses” and click on “View your Enrolled Courses”. Take the following three courses:
* SAFE HAVEN - about 30-45 minutes. Required every two years.
* CONCUSSION AWARENESS - about 30-45 minutes. Required every two years.
* LAWS OF THE GAME- about 45-60 minutes.
* REGIONAL REFEREE TRAINING - about 1 hour.
IMPORTANT - All four online courses MUST BE TAKEN PRIOR to taking the Live Referee Course.
Step 3: COMPLETE THE LIVE TRAINING
IMPORTANT - If you want credit for attending, you must sign up for the course online BEFORE the course starts. The system locks all users out at the time the course begins. The instructor will not be able to add you to the roster.
So, BEFORE you attend, do the following:
- Log in to https://aysou.org,
- Click on "In-Person Courses" in the red banner near the top.
- Click to Open "Referee Instructor Led Courses"
- Click on the Sessions button for "Regional Referee Course"
- Choose the date for one of the sessions below In Bullhead and REGISTER
Step 4: When you've completed your training - sign up to referee!
- Register as a Referee at http://www.cgisports.com/ref/5655/.
- Select Please register as a referee now
- If you are new, your badge is Regional
- For Team #, Select the team(s) you intend to give your points to.
