My25 Spring Season

Our core program is the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields. AYSO is best known for our core program – it’s where the large majority of kids fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime.

There are six core values – or what we call AYSO’s Six Philosophies – that are the foundation of our core program, and all others: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship and Player Development. These are the essence of AYSO, and it all starts with Everyone Plays. Here in AYSO, Everyone Plays means that no kid spends their soccer experience sitting on the bench. Every kid plays at least half of every game. Learn more about AYSO’s Six Philosophies here. Also, teams are put together in a way that makes playing soccer about the experience, not wins or losses. It’s not about blowing out another team with an unbelievable score; it’s about sportsmanship and learning to be the best possible teammate and opponent. Developing players is what we’re about, because soccer skills and life skills go hand in hand. AYSO’s main purpose is to get kids on the field, provide them with good coaches, and teach them to play soccer.

Let's chat about our **Spring Season**. Think of this as a super fun, slightly more laid-back experience! Since it's a bit smaller than our bustling fall program, we form coed teams, which is a wonderful way for kids to play together and build camaraderie. All the game action happens exclusively on Saturday mornings, typically with kick-off times at either 9:00 AM or 10:30 AM. This season runs for a solid 10 weeks, usually kicking off in March and wrapping up in May, giving everyone plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful spring weather on the field. When it comes to practice schedules, those are wonderfully flexible and are decided directly by your team's coach, making it easier to fit into busy family lives.

Now, if you're looking for our full-scale soccer extravaganza, you'll definitely want to hear about our **Fall Season**! This is our biggest program by far, often boasting around 1000 enthusiastic players across all age groups, from our tiniest "Playground" participants all the way up to our 18U teams. During the fall, we typically form separate teams rather than coed, focusing on age-appropriate competition. Our younger players, those in Playground, 6U, and 8U divisions, enjoy their games bright and early on Saturday mornings at either 8:00 AM or 9:30 AM. For our 10U and 14U teams, you'll find them hitting the field on weeknights, either Tuesdays or Thursdays. And for our older, more competitive 18U players, they'll have two exciting game nights a week, scheduled Monday through Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Just like in spring, your coach will work with the team to set practice times and days that work best for everyone. The Fall Season usually spans from September to November, with our 10U-14U teams playing for 10 weeks, and our Playground, 6U, 8U, and 18U teams enjoying an action-packed 8-week program. It's truly a season full of growth, learning, and tons of soccer fun!

We can't wait to see your kids out on the field, making memories and scoring goals!

Warmly,

AYSO Region397

Registration Age Breakdown

AYSO has changed from a school year registration to a birth year registration in order to align with other youth soccer providers’ interpretation of the U.S. Soccer Player Development Initiatives.

The effective date of age determination for registration shall be the player’s age as of December 31 looking ahead of the Membership Year.  Example: For MY2022 the division the child will be placed in will be determined based on their age on December 31, 2023.

To help in determining the proper age and division for players, the following chart is provided, and guidelines and rules are as follows from U.S. Soccer.
For more information about this change click here to be redirected to the U.S. Soccer website.

FRIEND REQUESTS ARE NOT PERMITTED

Unless children are siblings, per AYSO guidelines Friend Requests are not permitted for standard Core/Competitive play. All players must be randomly placed on teams through our registration portal. Placing siblings on the same team is the only exception.

WAITLIST INFORMATION

The waitlist is usually turned on after the regular registration deadline or if the maximum number (cut off number) has been reached prior to the last day of registration.

  • We utilize the waitlist as a "pause button" to determine if we can make more teams or to "fill in" for dropped players.
  • Moving off of the waitlist may take a few weeks and some patience, but you will be contacted via email if your player has been "activated" from the waitlist.
  • Once you are activated from the waitlist, you have 48 hours to pay to get your child on the team at that point.
  • No player that registers is guaranteed to play, as this is ALWAYS based on the number of VOLUNTEER coaches that are available for your child's division.
  • It's possible that a player can jump off of the waitlist if a parent of a waitlisted player volunteers to be a HEAD coach for the division where coaches are still needed. Please contact us if interested.
  • Players are put back on the waitlist in a backwards chronological order to instill fairness for our process, if we run out of volunteer coaches.
