AYSO Playground Program

The playground/schoolyard program is the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields. AYSO is best known for our core program – it’s where the large majority of kids fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime. Players at this age are gently introduced to competition. Our region offers Kicking Cuties U4 and Jamboree U5, our season begins when all games start. We practice and play games on Saturday mornings.

There are six core values – or what we call AYSO’s Six Philosophies – that are the foundation of our core program, and all others: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship and Player Development. These are the essence of AYSO and it all starts with Everyone Plays.

  • Everyone Plays means that no kid spends their soccer experience sitting on the bench. Every kid plays at least half of every game and we strive to have players on the field for 3/4 of the game.
  • Balanced Teams makes playing soccer about the experience, not the outcome of a single game.
  • Good Sportsmanship is learning to be the best possible team mate and opponent, not about blowing out another team with an unbelievable score.
  • Player Development is what we’re about, because soccer skills and life skills go hand in hand. AYSO’s main purpose is to get kids on the field, provide them with good coaches, and teach them to play soccer.

Player Eligibility: All kids are eligible. Age verification is required the first time you register to ensure your child is placed in the proper group.

Coaches: The AYSO Playground program is led by the Division Director and volunteer coaches. Parents are intimately involved in guiding their player under the guidance of the Program Leader and Coaches.

Age Groups: Players who will turn 3-4 in the following calendar year, this means in the fall, the oldest player will be 3 years 8 months of age.

Description:

What is AYSO Playground?
AYSO Playground is a child development program. The objective of this program is to help develop, in collaboration with the parent or guardian, the child’s fundamental motor skills using soccer as a common thread.

How long are AYSO Playground sessions?
The sessions should be no more than 45-60 minutes at a time (including rests and breaks).  Jurupa AYSO 462 has our Playground program begin practices on Saturdays at 9:30 am followed by Jamboree U6 at 10:30 am.

Is there competition in AYSO Playground?
There is no competition in AYSO Playground Soccer! The goal of AYSO Playground is to allow kids to develop fundamental motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and social interaction in a fun and safe AYSO environment. Children get to gradually discover the game for themselves while bonding with parents or guardians.

Welcome to AYSO Kicking Cuties (U4) - Where the Adventure Begins!

Kicking Cuties

U4 Master Coach - Coach Tiffany
When: Saturdays 9:30 am
Rancho Jurupa Sports Park
Fields: 12/13/14/15

Playtime Adventure is an activity program for children ages 3-4 that will help improve their physical motor-skills, providing a foundation for an active lifestyle and preparing them to participate in sports programs, particularly soccer! This program is designed specifically for our youngest athletes. This isn't just about soccer; it’s about sparking joy, building confidence, and falling in love with movement. Forget long lines and complex drills—this is discovery through play!

🌟 What is the Experience?

Kicking Cuties is built on the idea that children learn best through play. Our sessions are fast-paced, high-energy, and completely pressure-free. Every session includes:

  • Fundamental Motor Skills: Activities designed to improve balance, skipping, and coordination (the building blocks of all sports!).
  • Soccer Discovery: Fun, game-like activities that introduce ball control and dribbling without the stress of "doing it right."
  • The Big Match: A modified, small-sided game (2v2 or 3v3) that gives every child the chance to score goals and feel like a star.
  • Social-Emotional Growth: We weave in weekly themes like sharing, helping others, and teamwork.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why We Need You (Parental Involvement)

In U4, you aren't just a spectator on the sidelines—you are part of the team! Because this is often a child’s first organized activity, having a familiar face on the field makes all the difference.

The Session: Each session is led by a Session Leader - for our program we are supported by the Master Coach. Session Leaders will be looking for support from Volunteer Activity Leaders who will encourage the smaller groups as each session progresses.

Participation: Each player participates alongside a parent or guardian. You’ll be right there in the "grid" with your little one, acting as their personal cheerleader and guide.

Your Role Includes:

  • One-on-One Encouragement: Helping your child stay engaged.
  • Safety & Support: Providing a "home base" if they get overwhelmed.
  • Keeping the Flow: Helping "corral" balls or acting as a human cone to keep the smiles wide.

No soccer experience is required! If you can give a high-five, you’re overqualified.

Ready to join the Fun?

Join us for a season of croaking like frogs, chasing "bears," and scoring big goals.

Come be a part of your child’s first soccer memories!

Welcome to AYSO Jamboree (U5) – The Next Step in Their Soccer Journey!

Jamboree (U5)
Master Coach – Coach Leslie
When: Saturdays, 10:30 AM
Location: Rancho Jurupa Sports Park
Fields: 12 / 13 / 14 / 15

Jamboree is the exciting next step after Kicking Cuties (U4)! This is where players begin to experience what it’s like to be part of a team and play real soccer games—while still keeping everything fun, supportive, and age-appropriate.

🌟 What is the Experience?
In Jamboree, players are placed on teams and begin to build a sense of teamwork and game play. Each session includes:

⚽ Short Practice Time: Players warm up with simple, fun activities that reinforce basic skills like dribbling and kicking
⚽ Game Time: Teams play a weekly match against another team every Saturday
⚽ Small-Sided Games: Played in a 3v3 format so every child stays involved and active
⚽ Learning Through Play: The focus remains on fun, effort, and exploration—not competition

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why We Need You (Parental Involvement)
Parents continue to play an important role at this level!

On the Field:
Each player still has a parent or guardian nearby to support and guide them as needed with a couple volunteering to be the acting head coach.

Your Role Includes:
• Encouraging your child and helping them stay engaged
• Assisting with simple organization during games
• Supporting a fun and positive environment for all players

No soccer experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm!

🎽 What to Expect
• Players are placed on teams and will play games every Saturday
• Uniforms will be distributed for U5 players
• Shin guards and proper soccer attire are required
• Games are structured but still flexible and fun

💬 The Goal
Jamboree introduces players to teamwork, game flow, and sportsmanship—while continuing to build confidence and love for the game.

Today’s opponents may be tomorrow’s teammates, and every moment is a chance to learn, grow, and have fun.

Come be part of the journey as your child takes their first steps into real soccer matches!
