Range Strikers Volunteer Positions

Volunteer Positions - Appointed AND Vacant - as of /11/2025

Board of Directors:

1) Regional Commissioner (RC) Purpose: intended to have the responsibility and the authority to manage the day-to-day business of the Region as described in Article III of the Standard Regional Guidelines within the framework of the  AYSO operation regulations while leading the Region and its Regional Board.
  Duties: They consider the needs of their community in providing a vibrant, growing Region ensuring as many players as possible get the AYSO experience. Their role includes overseeing strategy, finances, volunteer recruitment, scheduling, policies and procedures, growth and most of all, making soccer fun for the players.

2) Coach Administrator Purpose: intended to administer a quality coaching program within the region.
 Duties:
Oversees the coach pool, including recruiting, assigning teams, overseeing training/certifications, and communications.

3) Child & Volunteer Protection Advocate (CVPA) Purpose:
 intended to implement and oversee the Child and Volunteer Protection Program(s) in the Region in accordance with the AYSO Safe Haven program.
 Duties: assist Registrar in annual registration of all volunteers, screening applicants, and upholding state laws that protect children. Promote the standards of behavior and conduct as laid out in the child and volunteer protection policies, procedures, and KIDZONE guidelines.

4) Treasurer Purpose: intended to keep and safeguard all of the monies of the region and to have in their possession all of the region’s cash investments,
contracts, leases and any other valuable documents. The regional treasurer shall deposit all funds and securities in the name and to the credit of the region in an authorized bank or depository.
 Duties:
Handles the financial activity of the Region, and its paperwork, including registration collection and recording, savings, paying bills and deposits.
 Appointed: Cathy Tankka | [email protected] | Cathy is also our Concession Stand Coordinator(s)- The coordinators help plan upcoming season concession stand operations, supplies, inventory, train volunteers, keep the concession stand clean, and maintain the volunteer list.

5) Registrar Purpose: to be responsible for planning and implementation of annual registration of players and volunteers.
  Duties: to plans and carry out the annual registration of all players including choosing sign-up locations, coordinating on-site and gathering applications and fees.

6) Safety Director Purpose: intended to be responsible for all aspects of the region’s safety.
 Duties:
Applies safety requirements and oversees maintenance to all soccer equipment, nets, fields and facilities.

7) Referee Administrator Purpose: intended to implement, monitor, and maintain the AYSO National Referee Program including program delivery, volunteer development, communication, and coordination for the club in all applicable divisions.
  Duties: Oversees the referee program, including recruiting, overseeing certifications, and scheduling them to games.

  Other Formal Board Positions include: Assistant Regional Commissioner, Secretary, and Auditor.

Also note that, ideally all Board positions would have an Assistant Role at minimum for one season prior that members resignation (desired to be 3 year term in positions). All Assistant roles will be listed here if filled but not listed as vacant due to those roles being a bonus/contingency plan for smoother transitions.


Key Coordinating Positions:

  • Tournament & Travel Coordinator Purpose: intended to work with the regional commissioner and the regional board to organize and participate in tournaments and misc. game play opportunities for players during the primary and outside the primary regular season program. | travel.coordinator[email protected] *Preferred to be the primary role/responsibility of  the Assistant Coach OR Assistant Referee Administrator Board position.
  • Special Events Coordinator Purpose: intended to be responsible for organizing any one of or all special events of the Region. Up to but not inclusive to events such as: Picture Day (acting as a liaison as applicable to provide pictures for teams and players) Uniform & Apparel Coordination (maintains inventory/organization of uniforms, coordinates drop off/pick up and payment of jerseys for families 'pre-season' and at the laundromat 'post-season', partner with Treasurer for and requests/orders), 'Buy/Trade/Sell/Swap' Event(s) for families to participate. Appreciation Celebration(s) at End of Season planning meetings, volunteer sign ups, and misc. day of activities.*order, purchase, and distribute awards/certificates as appropriate. *Preferred to be the primary role/responsibility of  the Assistant Treasurer OR Assistant Registrar Administrator Board position.
  • Field Coordinator Purpose: intended to be responsible for acquisition and maintenance of all playing fields including practice fields. *Preferred to be the primary role/responsibility of  the Assistant Safety Director Board position.
  • Communication Coordinator Purpose: intended to assist the region in all methods of internal communication. Facilitate disbursement of information concerning regional activities to the general public; ensuring communication of program, events, and information to surrounding schools, businesses,and maintaining social media including the club website. *Preferred to be the primary role/responsibility of  the Assistant Regional Leader OR Assistant CVPA Board position. | [email protected] 


Division Positions:

  •  Head Coach (All Divisions) Purpose: intended to develop in players a positive image of themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and opponents, and
    provide a good role model for players
    . Additionally, the coach will develop in his/her players the appropriate soccer skills as recommended in the AYSO coaching manuals.
  •  Assistant Coach (All Divisions) Purpose: intended to help the head coach with all coaching responsibilities.
  •   Referee/Youth Referee (Divisions vary) Purpose: intended to manage soccer matches played between teams of youth players in the age groups anywhere from U-5 to U-19 according to the AYSO National Rules and Regulations, the FIFA Laws of the Game and the training curriculum as specified in the AYSO National Referee Program. The referee is expected to cooperate with coaches and other officials to develop a positive self- image in the players and to provide a good role model for all AYSO participants.
