AYSO is a volunteer-run organization. Coaches, referees and administrators are volunteers. Over 125,000 parents, neighbors, relatives and friends lend their time and talents so that each child gets a terrific AYSO experience.

AYSO has developed special training that helps parents who may have little or no soccer experience quickly gain the age-appropriate knowledge and skills they need to be effective coaches and referees. It also has unique administrative and management training. This ensures that each community program:

• Abides by the AYSO philosophies
• Offers a great AYSO experience
• Continues to grow, offering the AYSO opportunity to more children

It only takes a few hours to become qualified as an introductory-level coach or referee. But if you're not able to commit even that much time, there are many small jobs you can help with. Even a couple of hours each season are an important contribution to your team and Region!

AYSO training doesn't stop as long as you're having fun. Referees, coaches and administrators have clinics, workshops and other advanced training available to advance their skills.

In order to have a smoothly run and well-organized soccer region, EVERYONE must help. From coaching to concessions please consider helping out! 


VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Head Coach	Responsible for running the team practices and making line ups at games. No experience needed! We have a coach’s clinic and training manuals to help you along the way.
Assistant Coach	Responsible for assisting the Head Coach. No experience needed! A clinic and pamphlets available to help you. Cover the head coach when and if he/she is not available.
Referee	Knowledge of the game is helpful! Both Referee’s clinic and pamphlets are available. Start in U 6 and do just a few games this season. You are more than welcome to referee your child’s game.
Linesperson	Assist the referee in game control, by calling out of bounds and off-side.
VIP Buddy	A non-disabled person intended to guide the VIP player on the field of play and, when, if no longer needed to assist physically, continues to be part of the player support system from the sideline.
U4/U5 Helper	Help our master coach administer the Jamboree/Playground Program by organizing the teams, setting up fields and supervising the program.
Team Parent	They are the coach's assistant, cheerleader and traffic director all in one. Also they schedule half-time refreshments, help with cancellation calls, and distribute team flyers.
Board Member	Work with other volunteers on the board to help implement the AYSO soccer program in the Region.
