Our
region in partnership with AYSO Region 89 (La Mesa) is offering a Basic Referee Certification Course. You must complete the pre-requisite requirements BEFORE attending the in-person course.
You must attend the in-person session in order to receive credit for the course.
This course is partly online, partly in person. All items in this checklist must be completed BEFORE attending the in-person class next Friday, September 27th.
- Register as a Volunteer at http://ayso258.org This is the same site you used to register your child for the season.
Click on Volunteer and select the role Referee and enter your
information.
- Background check: After
you sign your
volunteer form, you will receive an email requesting you to approve your
background check. Approve the request. If you need reimbursement for
the background check then bring the receipt to Scott Cross who will be
at Rancho Elementary School on Tuesday and Thursday night from 5:30 -
6:30 pm.
- Access AYSOU: On the same website as where you registered as a volunteer, click the AYSOU tab to access where the online courses are.
- Register for
the in-person part of the class: in AYSOU > Instructor Led Courses
> Referee Instructor Led Courses > Regional Referee Online
Companion Course > Click Sessions > Locate the course for La Mesa
on September 27th and click Register.
- Complete Safe Haven Course: in AYSOU > Online Courses > Safe Haven.
- Complete the Regional Referee Course: in AYSOU > Online Courses > Regional Referee Training (including the test).
- Email your Regional Referee Administrator ([email protected])
to inform him you have completed the steps and provide him with your
AYSOID.
- Come to the in-person class on Friday night! Class will be held in Room 33 at LMAAC from 6-9 pm on September 27. LMAAC is located at 4200 Parks Ave, La Mesa, CA 91941.
NOTE
the in-person class will be held in LA MESA at La Mesa Arts Academy
(LMAAC). You MUST complete steps 1 - 7 online prerequisites BEFORE you can attend class on the 27th.

Instructor Led Courses > Referee Instructor Led Courses
> Regional Referee Course > Sessions, and locate the Regional Referee Course scheduled for the above date in La Mesa. Register for the class.
You must complete
the entire session in order to be given a written test that is needed to become certified. More specifically, the classroom training will be necessary to prepare you for the certification test at
the end of the session on Saturday, Aug 24th.
