Volunteer Application

All Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Referees and Team Officials (sometimes known as team parent or team representative) are "Registered Volunteers". This means they have undergone a background check. This is required by the AYSO National Office each season by every Registered Volunteer. (mandated by State Law)

This is done by completing a volunteer application by going to the Region website at ayso677.org

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION (for Adults....Youth Volunteer directions are further down)

The steps to complete this process are easy, especially if you registered last year.

  1. Log into your account using your information from last season just as you would to register a player. DO NOT CREATE A NEW USER unless of course, you are indeed a new user. If you have lost your username or password, email [email protected]
  2. Once logged on click on "VOLUNTEER" located on the left side of the screen;
  3. Click on "Find Volunteer Roles" located at the top right;
  4.  Be sure you are signing up for "2021 Fall Core"
  5.  Scroll down and find the role (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Referee, Team Parent) and click on "Sign Up." (just do it for one division, even if you'll be refereeing or coaching more than one division)
  6.  Follow the steps to complete your volunteer application.
  7. Please be sure to E-sign and confirm your E-signature at the end of the process or else the application will not be complete and transmitted.
  8.  Print a copy of your application. I recommend you have a PDF copy for your own records.
If you are a new 1st time Registered Volunteer, you will need to present yourself, a print out of the e-signed form with a valid ID (Driver License or Passport) to our CVPA (Child Volunteer Protection Advocate) to prove you are you on the application. This is best done at one of the Registration events.

Youth Volunteers

Parent: Log on to your account using username and password.

This is where you will find your “participant” (youth player) showing.

On the left hand menu…click “Volunteer”

On the next screen: Select “Find Volunteer Roles” in Orange Button on the right .
Now you have to select a division that you want (the new volunteer) to volunteer for. You may have to scroll down and click “show more” to find the 10u division for example. But JUST PICK ONE DIVISION ONLY.

NOTE: It doesn’t really matter, when becoming a referee, which division you sign up for….because you will be refereeing more than one division. (BUT PICK ONLY ONE)

THEN…..Select the volunteer role (in this case Youth Referee) and after you click “Continue” then you will have an opportunity to select “who” is going to be the volunteer.

Select “sign up a family member”

Now, remember, this next form is being filled out as though it is the youth volunteer filling it out.

The most important question on this form is “Are you a returning Volunteer or New Volunteer”

The answer is not obvious

Always answer “Returning Volunteer”. This will force Blue Sombrero to look for an existing AYSO ID (in this case…the youth participant). If you select “New Volunteer” the system will automatically assign a new AYSO ID…which we don’t want.

(Yes I know…even though the youth has not volunteered before)

When you get to the question “Relationship to Participant”, the correct choice is “MYSELF”.

Feel free to put in the youth’s own email address on the form if you wish….or not. Just remember, that emails for that youth (as a volunteer) will go to whatever email address you put down.

After you go through the process, and being sure to enter the information for your child carefully so it matches what is on file.

Finally, don’t forget to click on “Send Invite” to that person so the player/volunteer can have their own log on …which you WILL need for AYSOU. After the invitation is accepted, (at whichever email was put on the form) the youth can pick a username/password. The youth/player will show up as an “Additional User” in the system. Then the youth can do the Safe Haven and Concussion online at AYSOU as well as register for the Referee course.
