American Youth Soccer Organization Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

Socorro, NM's youth soccer program, serving kids starting at age 3

Volunteers Must Be Registered!

Thank you for volunteering with AYSO Region 364 soccer! We appreciate your help. Please log in to your Blue Sombrero account and complete the required training. See below for instructions.

Since January 1, 2001, all American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Regions, Areas, and Sections are required to comply with the AYSO policy on criminal background checks. AYSO acts as the criminal background-requesting entity.

Any person wishing to volunteer in AYSO must complete an AYSO Volunteer Application Form in the Blue Sombrero system each year, submit an e-signed copy to the Region and consent to a criminal background check. The application form includes a Criminal Background Check Release. All requested information must be provided by the applicant, including Social Security number, driver license number (or other government issued photo I.D. if the applicant does not drive) and date of birth. The cost for the background check is $25. If this is a hardship for you, please contact the AYSO Region 364 Board.

***All volunteers must complete the background check and Safesport training PRIOR to practices or games. No exceptions!***

The steps to complete the background check are located at: https://wiki.ayso.org/wiki/Renew_and_Update_your_Background_Check

Since January 1, 2022, federal law requires all youth sports volunteers to complete Safesport training. Those instructions are located here:

Once that is complete you can upload your certificate by following these instructions:

All volunteers are also required to complete several training courses through eTrainU before stepping out onto the pitch to coach our youth. Access that training by following these instructions: https://wiki.ayso.org/wiki/Access_to_AYSOU

Volunteer Knowledge

Every year we have many open positions - for coaches, assistant coaches, referees, staff positions, board members, field markers, etc. If you want to contribute even just a little bit of your time, we need you! There is nothing so fulfilling as watching children learn and grow. Your own kids will remember your involvement for years to come. Your help WILL make a difference!

But I don't know anything about soccer!

You don't have to be a soccer expert; most people just starting with AYSO knew very little about the game. All you need is a positive attitude. In many of the positions you will never touch a soccer ball.

What about training?

Region 364 will provide the training you need to succeed in your position. All the tools and classes are paid by the region! We also provide contacts and mentors who can answer your questions and help you get started. You can visit AYSOU via the above link.

What if I hate being outside?

Even if you hate being outside and don't have a clue about soccer, we can still use your help in running the organization and making AYSO a positive experience for all our youngsters! We have lots of administrative positions.

Remember.... AYSO is a 100% Volunteer-Run Organization

We can't make it work without you!

There is something for everyone! Join the fun and show your children how to be a part of a successful volunteer program. Many volunteers are needed to uphold the spirit of AYSO and to make this all-volunteer league possible. Take a minute to read through the position descriptions to decide how you'd like to help out.

Instead of grumbling about how "someone" ought to do this or that better – when the registration volunteer asks what you'd like to do – volunteer to be that "someone" when signing up your child! You can be a front-line team volunteer, a the "behind the scenes" division volunteer positions, or you can become one of the Board of Directors and Staff who keep things running and worry about details from National AYSO to local politicians. Everyone is a volunteer.

Every team must provide:

  • AYSO Certified Coach
  • At least one trained AYSO Certified referee
  • Team Manager/Team Parent
