Team Parents MUST be registered volunteers prior to acting as an AYSO Volunteer.  All volunteers must re-register each Spring for the upcoming fall season.  Team Parents must take Online Safe Haven Certification and it is recommended, but not required, to take CDC Concussion Certification or coach certification training.  All certifications will stay with you for life, but you may re-take at any time as a refresher.  All Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Parents should attend ONE mandatory Coach Meeting each Fall, and ONE mandatory coach meeting each Spring.

Team Parents are vital to the success of the Region.  We ask our coaches to do a lot!  They are responsible for organizing, managing, and teaching a group of young children.  It can be a full time job by itself if you do not get any help.

As a team parent, you may be asked by your Team Coach to do some of the following

  • Organize a Snack Schedule for Game Days
  • Help Organize the team on Picture Day
  • Contact players in case of a cancellation or re-scheduled game or practice
  • Communicate with parents and provide their feedback to the coach
  • Help manage the team website
  • Attend practices in case a child is injured or needs assistance
  • Assist with Practice - perhaps shagging balls or tying shoe laces
  • Let the Team Coach know they are not alone!!!!

In order to be a team parent, you must do the following…

  • Register as an AYSO Volunteer - (must be done every season)
  • Submit to a background check (part of registration process)
  • Complete the online AYSO Safe Haven Certification Course (required for all volunteers, Only needs to be done one time)
  • Optionally - Complete either coach certification and or the Online CDC Concussion Certification - Not required for team parents, but recommended.
  • Be enthusiastic and positive with other players and volunteers
  • Support the AYSO Philosophies, and apply them to everything you do

Being a team parent can be a very rewarding experience.  You have the opportunity to shape and mold the attitudes and habits of All the children on your team, and by example, all the children in the region.  If you are interested in becoming a team parent, simply ask your coach, or your Town Representative, or the Regional Coach Administrator.
