Ø AYSOU Update

Starting Monday, July 1^st, AYSOU will be undergoing a few changes to make it easier for our volunteers to find courses and introducing the first versions of some new offerings.

AYSOU will now feature new navigation tabs, which you can see below. The tabs are now listed as: Online Courses, In-Person Courses and Webinars to help volunteers find courses faster.

Secondly, Users will be able to search for In-Person Courses and Webinar offerings by title first, rather than by date. How-To information will now be found under the Resources Tab.

And finally, the Home/Log-In page will feature a Getting Started link to help first-time volunteers. Look for new online courses including CVPA, Safety Director and Registrar job training.

Once these go live on Monday, we will do a short tutorial video to walk through the live site.

Ø Volunteer Membership Program – Sterling Volunteers email link to complete the background check and registration process

Verified Volunteers had a re-branding, including a name change to Sterling Volunteers. Aside from the name, nothing else has changed as it relates to AYSO and our Volunteer Membership Program.

We are experiencing a situation in which not all volunteers are clicking on the link provided by Sterling Volunteers to get the background check and complete the registration process.

To ensure everyone that registers to volunteer is eligible for our upcoming season, we ask that you please reach out and ask them to complete the registration process by following the steps below:

1. Look for an email sent to them from –

OR - American Youth Soccer Organization <[email protected]>

2. If they don’t find the link, please have them email [email protected]and one will be re-sent to them

3. Click on the link and follow the steps

Ø How to keep kids playing? Offer something different (Attached Article). With the start of the fall season up on us this may be a good article to start looking at other ideas for our players.

Ø Section 5 Director Election Process

a) It is time to elect a new Section Director for Section 5. Our current director, Michael Mays, will be stepping down once the new Director is approved by the National Board. The nomination window is now open to nominate candidates for this position. We will take nominations for the election through July 15th. Per our Bylaws, the Area Directors are able to make nominations and then will vote for a new Section Director. Regional Commissioners, please talk with your Area Directors about potential candidates that you would like to see nominated.

b) Shannon Klocko (AD5E) will be overseeing the nomination and voting process.

c) Shannon and the Area Directors have set up the following schedule for the election process.

i. July 1 st – Nomination will open

ii. July 15 th – Nominations will close

iii. July 21 st at 8pm Eastern – Candidate speeches and Q&A time.

iv. July 22-27: Area Directors will vote on the new Section Director

v. July 27 th – Vote results will be shared with all Executive Members in Section 5.

vi. July 29 th – SD paperwork will be turned in to be approved by NBOD

vii. Sept 1 st – New SD official term will begin.

Ø 2020 Expo: New SD will be planning this event, but a firm date in early 2020 has not been determined. It looks like it may be in Atlanta, GA.
