Here is what will happen after registration closes:

Early July – Team Formation will begin (WE CAN ONLY FIELD AS MANY TEAMS AS WE HAVE VOLUNTEERS TO COVER THEM!)

Mid-July – Coaches will start reaching out to families to confirm that their player is dedicated to the season and to still playing. Coaches will have ONE week to confirm their teams before we start dropping unconfirmed players and assigning new players to fill in those gaps.

Late July to Early August – Focus will be on getting ALL team volunteers cleared through the registration/training process so that teams can start practicing and moving on into the final steps of preseason preparations.

Please remember that AYSO is a 100% VOLUNTEER organization. We cannot run a successful season without volunteers, not just at the team level but also at the region level. If we do not get volunteers then we will have to cut the number of kids that we take and cannot run at our full capacity! Please take a moment to watch this quick video about AYSO and why we need YOU! If you would like to volunteer your time to a great organization that provides world class soccer programs to your community, please email us at [email protected]. We do not want Region 159 to end up shutting down like Region 28 did due to lack of involved parents!

IMPORTANT DATES & INFORMATION:

Practice can start (IF VOLUNTEERS ARE CLEARED THROUGH THE CVPA): August 12, 2024

Season Start: Saturday, September 7, 2024
  • U8 and above will be at Arbor Park, 4665 Lampson Ave., Los Alamitos, CA 90720. Arbor parking lot will be CLOSED to AYSO participants so ALL parents need to park in the West Ed parking lot in front of the park and then walk through the gate into Arbor. Arbor is a NO DOG PARK. This is NOT just an AYSO rule but a city rule that is posted every 10 feet along the property line so please leave your dog at HOME, if you cannot do this then your player’s match will be suspended until the dog is off park property. It is a safety issue and there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding dogs at the fields.
  • Playground and U6 will be at Lee Elementary, 11481 Foster Rd., Los Alamitos, CA 90720. Please be respectful of the residents of this neighborhood and this school by being courteous with your parking, taking what you bring, throwing away all your trash in the trash cans, and just being an overall good visitor of this environment. Lee Elementary is a NO DOG ZONE as most school properties are. This is NOT just an AYSO rule but a school district rule so please leave your dog at HOME, if you cannot do this then your player’s match will be suspended until the dog is off school property. It is a safety issue and there is a zero-tolerance policy regarding dogs at the fields.
Region Wide Picture Day: Saturday, September 14, 2024

  • Picture Day will be at Lee Elementary. A link to sign up for Pictures will go out to Coaches the week before Picture Day. Please make sure your team is there at least 15 minutes early to check in, we have a lot of teams to photograph and we want to keep everyone on schedule.

DATES TO WATCH OUT FOR THAT WILL COME OUT CLOSER TO THE SEASON

Registration Assistance Events/Fingerprinting
  • Once player registration closes, we will host a few nights at Fire Station 48 (Seal Beach Blvd & the 405 freeway) to get any volunteer fingerprinted, if needed, and to assist in any volunteer registration questions/issues taken care of. If you have any questions or concerns about volunteer registration, please reach out to our Registrar, Michael Gries, at [email protected]. If you have any questions regarding your Background/Fingerprinting or your Training Courses please reach out to the CVPA, AJ Singh, at [email protected].
Volunteer Role Training
  • Referee Training Courses: SATURDAY, JULY 27th , SUNDAY, AUGUST 11th , and SATURDAY, AUGUST 17th . You may also attend a training in another Region, there will be referee trainings within our Area (11E) almost every weekend starting mid-July to later in August (but the earlier the better so you can get your uniforms!) If you have any questions or concerns about volunteering as a Referee please reach out to our Referee Admin Team, John Laisy & Raimondo Piluso at [email protected].
  • Coach Training Courses: U6/U8 Coach Training is an online course that you can find in ETrainU (formerly AYSOU). U10 and above coaching training sessions will be a Coach Super Camp, Saturday, July 27th , Time and Location will be sent out to all coaches upon getting your roster, as well as in region training, scheduled for July 13th , 2024 and July 20th , 2024 at Rush Park, times TBD. If you have any questions regarding volunteering as a coach, please reach out to our Regional Coach Administrator, Barbara Carroll at [email protected].
  • Team Parent Training: We are currently looking for a Team Parent Coordinator so if you are interested in helping at a region level please email the Regional Commissioner, Brenna McAdams at [email protected]. We need to fill this role so that team parents across the region have someone to coordinate with for assistance in their role!
  • Field Maintenance Training: Setting up fields is a vital part of the season, as without fields, we have no games. Every team at Arbor Park will be responsible for setting up and breaking down their fields if they are the first or last game on that Saturday. This is a team effort and we expect all parents to help if needed. We will be hosting a field maintenance training so that parents can learn how to set up and break down safely and learn to make sure that their field is safe for players to play on. Please watch your email for these training dates!!
Uniform Distribution
  • Playground Program: We will provide you a shirt and socks that you will receive on the day the program begins, please provide your player with shorts. All players MUST have shin guards in order to be on the field, cleats are not necessary but tennis shoes are mandatory if you do not have cleats.
  • U6 and above: Uniform sets will go out in the order that teams are cleared so ALL volunteers on the team must be cleared through the registration process in order to be put on the list to receive uniforms. This means that colors are first come first serve so the earlier you get your volunteers set and cleared the earlier you get to pick the color you want for your team! If your team does not have volunteers then you will not be placed on the list and you will not receive uniforms, which you need in order to play. Any team that does not get uniforms and cannot play, will be disbanded.
SoccerFest 2024
  • Join us at Arbor Park for our 2024 SoccerFest and 45-year celebration! This is open to REGISTERED players and siblings ONLY.
