A letter from your Commissioner

Parents, players and esteemed volunteers,

For the last 13 years, I’ve had the pleasure of serving Marine Park Soccer first as a volunteer coach, a volunteer Referee Administrator and most recently as your volunteer Commissioner. Over that time, the thing that motivated me most to show up on the pitch each and every weekend was the joy of watching your players play the beautiful game. Whether your sons and daughters were just starting out or had been playing soccer for years, I loved watching them play on the pitch. So much so, I often would have to restrain myself from joining in and kicking the ball around with them during their practices and matches. That’s why they call it the beautiful game. No matter who you are, where you come from, your level of experience or higher power you answer to, soccer brings people together.

And so it saddens me to announce that I will be stepping down as Commissioner of Marine Park Soccer effective immediately. As a result of circumstances outside of my control, I no longer can serve as your Commissioner. I open it up to you parents, if you are interested or have questions about the role, to present yourself as the next Commissioner of Marine Park Soccer and I will support you as you assume the responsibilities of leading this amazing league. The alternative is Marine Park Soccer will have to close its doors permanently. Unfortunately, until a Commissioner is named, registration will remain closed for the 2024 fall soccer season.

Volunteering is not easy. It’s often thankless. But if you, as I have, first and foremost love seeing your players out there on the pitch, there is no greater reward.
