Some general info on the upcoming 2023 AYSO season.
Registrations are now open and go through til the end of June. You can register online, but MAY be required to meet at future registration event (dates TBA) to present a Birth Certificate or similar if it is first time registering.

Teams are formed during July with the main focus on finding volunteers who will become "Registered Volunteers" (with background checks) to become Coaches and Referees. see more here: Coaching and Refereeing
Age divisions:
A child that turns 4 years old anytime in 2023 can play in 5u, which is the Soccer Jamboree program.
This is a fun time with parent involvement at Sierra Vista Jnr High. More about it here. AYSO Playground
The Jamboree program is the very first introduction to soccer and there are no practices during the week and soccer camp type skills and play session on Saturday mornings. (Sat Sept 9 – Saturday Nov 11 inclusive)
6u Boys and 6u Girls (for children turning 5 anytime during 2023)
This is playing on a team and an introduction to a team environment that has a practice session BEFORE the game, and then the game itself. (non-competitive) These are played at Sierra Vista Jr High. Always on a Saturday morning. (Sat Sept 9 – Saturday Nov 11 inclusive)
Because there are no midweek practices, coaches are usually finalized during August.
8u Boys and 8u Girls (for children turning 6 or 7 anytime during 2023)
There is a practice during the week and a game on Saturday. (non-competitive). (Sat Sept 9 – Saturday Nov 11 inclusive)
Teams are formed in the 2nd half of August once enough parents volunteer to be coaches. Coaches decide what afternoon practice will be. The place of practice is coordinated between the Coach and the Fields Administrator.
10u Boys and 10u Girls (for children turning 8 or 9 anytime during 2023)
12u Boys and 12u Girls (for children turning 10 or 11 anytime during 2023)
Competitive divisions start in 10u with two practices per week and a competitive season that includes a post season tournament at the end of the regular season for teams that qualify with enough volunteer points.
Regular season is Sat Sept 9 – Saturday Nov 11 inclusive and then the post season tournament over two weekends before and possibly after Thanksgiving depending on seasonal rainouts. (never during Thanksgiving weekend)
Some teams may advance even further to "Area Play" to compete against Valencia, Saugus and Castaic during January. Winners of that tournament may advance to "Sectional Play" in Bakersfield in February.
The timings and the place of the practices during the week are decided by the coach.
10u matches are held at La Mesa Jnr High on Saturday mornings.
12u matches are held at Sierra Vista Jnr High on Saturday mornings and into early Saturday afternoons.
Evaluation of players are to be determined. Then we form teams. For more info on evaluations click HERE
14u Boys and 14u Girls
Regular season is Friday Sept 9 – Saturday Nov 11 inclusive and then the post season tournament over two weekends before and possibly after Thanksgiving depending on seasonal rainouts. (never during Thanksgiving weekend). Note that there may be some Friday night games in 14u. They have proved quite popular.
In 14u, teams from Canyon Country may play against other teams from other regions. (Valencia, Suagus and Castaic)
Some teams may advance even further to "Area Play" to compete against Valencia, Saugus and Castaic during January. Winners of that tournament may advance to "Sectional Play" in Bakersfield in February.

14u matches are held on Friday nights and Saturdays and may be at Sierra Vista Jnr High or Central Park or perhaps Placerita Jnr High. Schedules will determine this. It will vary from week to week.
