How to Register as a Volunteer:
IMPORTANT! If you've already created an AYSO Blue Sombrero account, DO NOT create another new account. Please login to your existing account. If you've never created an AYSO Blue Sombrero account before, go ahead and create one.
When logged into your account, there is an icon of a person in the upper right, in that drop down, click “Account.”
Click “Volunteer” on the vertical menu on the left.
Click the orange link on the right “Find Volunteer Roles.”
Sign up for the position you are volunteering, typically it is Head Coach in the age group you child is in, i.e.: 5U Girls Head Coach.
If you do not see the appropriate Role, click “More” at the middle bottom of the page.
When you have found the correct position, click “Continue” at the bottom of the page.
A confirmation will come up to confirm you do want to register for the position selected. Click the “Continue” button.
Next is a page called “Position Information Needed”. The first question is Are you a New or Returning Volunteer? Pick the appropriate answer. If you are prompted to enter your maiden name (if you are male) simply type in your last name again.
Enter the last 4 digits of your social security number, date of birth, type of photo ID, ID number, ID State and any additional questions showing an asterisk. You will be required to list two references. The last question before the gray boxes is a yes or no answer only. If you have missed a required question, the system will prompt you to answer it before continuing. At the bottom of the page on the left, check the box that says “I accept” then click “Continue on the bottom right.
The next page is the Volunteer E-signature. Click the box that says “Click Here to e-Sign Form.
Scroll down to the section where you click the choices that say “I agree to use an electronic signature” and “I am an adult of the age of maturity in my state then type your name in the yellow box. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the yellow “Continue to Review” button.
The page will refresh and you will see your name in signature form. Scroll to the bottom and click the yellow “Submit signed volunteer application” button.
From there you can then click the “Logout” link on the upper left.
NEW PROCEDURES - Once you have completed your registration you will receive an E-Invite from [email protected]. Verified Volunteers is AYSO’s new background check service.
Follow the link in the email and establish a username and password. Confirm the information received from AYSO’s registration system and set up security questions. Follow the Verified Volunteers instructions from here.
You will come to a payment page. In the upper portion of the page it will state that the cost of the background check is $25.00 and will ask if you would like to contribute toward that cost. THERE IS NO COST TO YOU. Click No or Not at this time. The next question is asking if you would like to enroll in Fast Pass. Again, click No or Not at this time. AYSO is not participating in the Fast Pass Program.
On the bottom portion of the page you will again see the charges and the acknowledgement of Region 186 paying the $25.00 fee. Click Submit Order. You will get a total of 3 initial email from Verified Volunteers. The first one with the link to the site, the second acknowledging that you have set up a username and password and a third acknowledging that your background check is now being processed. Once you background check has completed, you will receive one last email advising that the background check has been completed.
