Alpine AYSO Adult League – Rules

Introduction

The purpose of this edition of The Official Rules is to help players and spectators become familiar with the rules of Alpine AYSO Adult League to play and enjoy the game.  Alpine AYSO Adult League is dedicated to giving adults an opportunity to participate in recreational team sports while having fun, meeting friends and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our Adult Soccer programs are based on keeping winning in perspective but with fair play and good sportsmanship. Our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment for our community to come and enjoy a high quality Adult Soccer program.

Rules differences between a regular game and Alpine Adult Soccer (for new players and new referees!!!). We will be adhering to the 2019/2020 Laws of the Game.

Most of the rules (or "laws") are the same as you usually see except for a few things:

  1. We play 6v6 (including the goalie), and 2 of the players must be female (we play 6v6 instead of 11v11 because we use a smaller field)
  2. Halves are only 25 minutes. The clock will start no later than 5 minutes after the scheduled start to ensure all later games are not delayed.
  3. No sliding or slide tackling (for safety reasons)
  4. During free kicks, the opposing player must be 5 yards away
  5. No one can score more than 4 goals in any one game
  6. Subs from other teams may play for other teams in the regular season, but are not allowed to score and cannot play goalkeeper.  No subs in the playoffs.

The referee is not in charge of counting the goals per person, or ensuring the number of subs or females on the field.  That is up to both teams to govern themselves. The winning captain will send the score into the league office, the referee doesn't have to worry about that either (but should keep track of the score during the game).

COED LEAGUES

·         Philosophy: Coed Leagues are a non-competitive alternative for male and female recreational players. It is our main concern to keep a low level of intensity. The rules of all coed divisions are specifically designed to provide extra protection to participants to ensure safe play. Bullying, taunting and showing up other players is not tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly.

·         All goals scored count as 1 point, there will be no touch rule for males.  No player may score more than 4 goals in one game (The 5th goal will not count, and the other team will restart with a goal kick).

·         No more than 4 males can be on the field at any time for any one team.

1) Park Policies

·         No alcoholic beverages or smoking is allowed on the fields.

·         Any person(s) being under the influence of alcohol or any other substance that could cause the person(s) to be at risk to themselves and/or others will be removed from the field and could result in further suspension from the league.

·         No food, seeds, or sports drinks are permitted on the turf field or running track. No spiked cleats or wheels are permitted on the turf.

·         Alpine AYSO Adult League will not be responsible for injuries sustained during league or tournament play. Alpine AYSO Adult League does not provide insurance coverage for managers or spectators.  Insurance for players will be covered by AYSO National.

·         Any person(s) that does not conduct themselves in a manner that is conducive with Alpine AYSO Adult League’s policies or rules can be removed, ejected or suspended from the league for any length of time to be determined by Alpine AYSO Adult League management.

·         Any person striking or attempting to strike any player, official, employee or spectator will be suspended from the league and could face legal repercussions for their actions.

·         Alpine AYSO Adult League reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

If both teams are tied in goals, a “sudden death” shootout occurs. Each team will be given one opportunity to score a goal, switching different shooters each time. This procedure will continue until one team misses their shootout. If all eligible players participated, the previous shooters (in the same order) will be given another attempt.

The ejected player may also receive additional game suspensions, of any length of time, and possible permanent suspension.
