Answers to frequently asked questions:
1. Do I need to purchase a uniform?
-If you are a first time player, yes. If you are a returning player, or have a uniform used in a past season, that uniform can be used. We update our uniform style from time to time, but we always use the same colors so that uniforms can be used multiple seasons.
2. What equipment does my child need?
-If your child will be in Playground, they will need shin guards and a size three ball; cleats are not required but can be worn if you choose. If your child will be in 6U or 8U, cleats, shin guards, and a size three ball are needed. If your child will be in 10U or 12U, cleats, shin guards, and a size four ball are needed. SHIN GUARDS ARE REQUIRED TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES BY ALL PLAYERS.
3. What nights and time is practice?
-Practices can be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and/or Friday. 8U, 10U, and 12U teams have games on Saturdays. Practice times are set by the coaches.
4. Where will the practices and games be?
-All practices are in Norris; we practice on The Commons, the large area across from Norris Middle School. Games for Playground, 6U and 8U are all in Norris. 10U and 12U are consider travel teams; this means that they will have games in Norris and games at other AYSO fields which could be in Knox, Blount, Loudon, Claiborne, Scott, and Sevier counties. We generally have half of the games in Norris and half away games.
5. Is AYSO a non-profit organization?
-Yes, we are! All of our volunteers, board members, coaches, and referees volunteer their time to help us each season.
6. Can I request a specific coach or team mate for my child?
-Yes; once registration is completed, please send an email to
[email protected] with your child's name and your request. We will do our best to meet your request.
7. What do I do to become a volunteer?
-Please register as a volunteer through your account. Once completed, please make sure to check your email as an email will be sent to complete your background check. Once that is completed, please send an email to
[email protected] and let us know what volunteer role you would like to fill. We will send you information on online training that must be completed.
