Fall 2020 Update

Hello Region 55 Families:

We are so happy to announce that we will be starting a fall training program which will begin next week and will last 8 weeks. While this will not look like our typical fall season, it will get the kids out on the field and working on their soccer skills. To that end, we have partnered with Coerver Orange County which will provide professional trainers for this program. The program, including what it entails and the schedule for weekly (and specified Saturday) training sessions, is outlined below.

But first, it is important to note that due to state and local requirements regarding physical distancing because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we must limit the number of participants for the program. For our 6U through 12U divisions, the maximum number of participants will be 50 (e.g. 50 6U boys, 50 6U girls, 50 8U boys, 50 8U girls, etc.). For the 14U divisions, we are limiting the number of participants to 25, and for the 16U divisions, the maximum number of participants is 10 per gender (14U and 16U will be paired for training purposes).

If you want your child to participate in this program and have already registered for the fall core program, their spot is secured. For anyone who wishes to participate that has not yet registered their child, the remaining spaces, up to the maximum numbers set out above, will be given on a first come first served basis to those who register at www.ayso55.org. Once the participant limit is reached in a particular division, players will be placed on a waiting list. If space opens up due to drops, players from the waiting list will be added. If your child is already on an Extra roster, please do not sign up for this program. Look to your coaches for information about training.

The cost for this program is $70 ($50 registration and $20 for AYSO's national player fee). If you already registered and paid a higher amount, you will be refunded the difference either via the payment method you used to register, or via a check which will be mailed to you.

If you have already registered, but do not wish to participate in the fall training program, please let us know by Saturday, September 26th so we can process a refund and open the spot up for a player on the waiting list.

Finally, we also want to enlist a few of our volunteer coaches to assist in running this program alongside the professional Coerver trainers. We will need a few volunteer coaches for each division to help out. As an added bonus, if you need a coach certification for a new age group (e.g. if you are moving up from 8U to 10U) your participation in this program will count as your coach training and you will not need to go through coach certification again for that age group in the future. Coerver has promised us that part of its program will also be to train our volunteer coaches who come out to assist. If you are interested, please send an email to both Jason McEwen ([email protected]) and Paul Kirby ([email protected]) with the division you would like to volunteer for.

In the event that state and local guidelines change to a point that physical distancing is no longer necessary and regular games can be played once again, we will reevaluate our program at that time.

Here is a general description of the program, along with the training days and times for the various divisions. All training will be at College View Elementary School. Players will need to have cleats, shin guards, water bottles, and their own ball. No uniforms will be provided for this program.
