Awesome Youth Soccer in Orange, CA

Fall 2022 Registration Info

• We will have our traditional season of forming teams, having parent coaches, with practices during the week and games on Saturdays at Taft Elementary School.  Practices are during the week and day/ time is dependent upon the coach's schedule.  If you want to dictate when your child practices then please coach!

• For all new players (new to this division and/or league), there will be an evaluation day, in order to see the skill level of each player.  This is to ensure balanced skill levels on each team.  Evaluations are only for U8 Boys & Girls and U10 Boys & Girls, Sunday, August 7.  A sign up will be sent out.

• The majority of divisions will be separated by gender.  Schoolyard and U6 are currently coed in order to keep the number of teams high.  Invite everyone you know to sign up, to ensure high enrollment which creates more teams!

• If you are unsure of which division your child falls under, the system will place your child accordingly, based on their birth year.  We do not make exceptions and move players out of their divisions.  Detailed age information can be found here.

• Games will start after Labor Day on Saturday, September 10, 2022.  8U and below all play at Taft Elementary School in Orange, 10U and older will travel and have home games at Taft.

• Practices typically start the end of August, if we have enough coaches that sign up. If we don't have enough coaches, practices will be delayed. Please sign up to coach, even if you don't have experience; we have tools to help! Each coach chooses the practice day/ time so as a coach, YOU get to dictate your practice times (Mon-Fri, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Taft Elementary School or Handy Park).

• Every season is delayed because we have not had enough coaches sign up from the get go. All coaches are volunteer parents, siblings, family members or friends, etc. and we cannot run our program without YOU! Please help our region get off on the right foot by coaching. Even if you don't have any experience, we have tools to help. We can pair you with someone who may have experience, but can't commit to every practice or game. Please volunteer if you have ANY interest in helping!  Sign up as a volunteer on our website by logging in and choosing: Volunteer 2022-2023 (MY2022).

• Board member positions are also needed, see descriptions here. Help us make the decisions that keep this region running smoothly!

• Practices and games will be at Taft Elementary School - 1829 N. Cambridge St., Orange, CA 92865. When the time changes, practices will move to a lighted field, location TBD.  U10 and older will have some away games but all home games will be at Taft Elementary.

***VERY IMPORTANT*** In order to use our fields, we need to show proof of residency. For all families who do not live in Orange but do attend a school in Orange Unified, please provide proof of school attendance by sending us a screen shot of your child's Aeries Portal page. This is a requirement to play in our region if you live outside of Orange but attend a school in OUSD. Email a copy of the "Demographics" webpage to: [email protected] Instructions can be found here.  You DO NOT have to live in Orange or attend an OUSD school to play in our region.

• Included in registration fee is a uniform, pictures and trophy.

• For uniform sizing, please refer to the Score Sizing Chart found here.  Be sure to scroll all the way between 'youth sizes' and 'adult sizes', depending on your player's size.

Registration fee is $160.00 plus a $2.75 processing fee.  Once registration closes, prices go up.

*AYSO charges a $20.00 membership fee annually 8/1 - 7/31 (not included in our registration fees) which covers your child for any program registered during the season. This fee is non-refundable and goes directly to the national office to cover insurance and other resources provided by the national office.  If you register again in the Spring of 2023, you will not pay that fee again.

Coaches or Team Coordinators may collect money to cover team parties, team banners, coach gifts, etc.

Every team will be required to obtain a sponsorship to the league. Amount is TBD.

AYSO is volunteer based and does not run without volunteers.  If you would like to make a difference in our region or know someone that would love to help out, we have many positions available.  Please consider joining our board!  Email [email protected] for more info.

Program Information

In a normal pre-Covid year, our Fall season runs from August through November. Many coaches have practices twice a week for their team but some opt to have a single practice a week, (days and times are determined by each coach).  Actual games are every Saturday. Our home games are held at Taft Elementary School.  Hopefully we can get back to this style of play this upcoming Fall....

In AYSO,  Everyone Plays, so your child will play at least half of  the game whether he/she has never played before or he/she is an experienced player.

The need for referees and referee points

After regular Fall Season AREA "Q" begins "AREA" Playoffs.  This is considered extra play as a reward for 10U -14U teams that earned 100% of the required referee points for the region. Points are given to each referee participant of a team and are required to enter the play-off season. They are acquired by parents and/or siblings that complete AYSO referee training and volunteering as referees for other teams and divisions.

An invitation to AREA Playoffs will only be given to teams who have earned their team points. If there is more than 1 team in your division, invitation will be given to the 1st place team within the region as long as they have earned all their referee points. If the first place team fails to earn the necessary referee points, the invitation will be given to the second place team, again, if they have acquired the necessary points.

Point system consists of earning at least twelve referee points a season (per team) to take your team to AREA Q playoffs.

Referee Points Explained

Only AYSO certified registered referees who have completed the course AND IN UNIFORM, will be able to receive these points. Referees can assign points to any team but points can only be assigned once.

Points are available as follows:

• 3 points as a Center Referee (in 10U-19U divisions only)
• 1 Point as a Referee in 8U games
• 1 Point as an Assistant Referee (sideline referee)

Sign-ups for games will be available by signing up on .  Remember, first come first serve, so sign up early. Referees are allowed to give points to whomever team they desire, thus allowing a referee multiple games. We encourage this to get as many teams as possible to Playoffs.
