COACHING ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

AYSO Region 425 Volunteer Registration Policy

The Board of Directors of AYSO Region 425 believes that the continued success of AYSO in Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield and Winnetka is dependent on parent participation.  AYSO is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that is affiliated with the park districts in our communities. We are dependent on parents who register their children to play soccer to also be willing to volunteer their time for the benefit of their children and their team.  The AYSO motto of “Everyone Plays” applies to children and parents equally—with the children playing soccer and parents playing a role as a Team Parent, Assistant Coach, Head Coach and other volunteer roles.  Without parent volunteers, there is no AYSO.  We appreciate you volunteering your time to support AYSO, but more importantly-- in creating positive life experiences for your children.  Let’s play!

Team Parent Volunteer:

Every parent that registers a child to play soccer in Region 425 is agreeing to volunteer as a Team Parent.  Team Parents can be called on to provide the following assistance:

1.       Provide a snack/drink for their team for one or more games during the season.

2.       Support the team and the Team Coach with regular attendance and timely drop-off and pick up of players from practices and games.

3.       In the absence of a Team Coach, collaborate with other Team Parents to occasionally manage a practice and/or game OR develop an ongoing collaborative coaching model that shares coaching duties among all Team Parents with children on the same team.

4.       Communicate in a positive, respectful and supportive manner with players, coaches, parents and league officials – especially youth referees.

Assistant Coach Volunteer:

The Assistant Coach helps the Team in the following ways:

1.       Regularly attends team practices and games, providing a first position back-up to the Team Coach in case of his/her absence.

2.       In the absence of a Team Head Coach, works with the Team Parents to develop a coverage schedule for team practices and games to ensure the team has at least one Team Parent at each scheduled event.

3.       Complete AYSO Safe Haven Certification to understand AYSO policies regarding child safety in our program.

4.       Complete the minimum required AYSO coaching training for the age level of your child’s team.

Team Coach Volunteer:

The Team Coach helps the team in the following ways:

1.       Regularly attends team practices and games or assigns an Assistant Coach or Team Parent to take his/her place.

2.       Communicates effectively with Team Parents.

3.       Designates weekly assignments to Team Parents, as needed.

4.       Complete AYSO Safe Haven Certification to understand AYSO policies regarding child safety in our program.

5.       Complete the minimum required AYSO coaching training for the age level of your child’s team.

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO INSPIRE YOUR CHILD!
