AYSO Irvine Region 213 - Serving Irvine for 40 years

EXTRA PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The EXTRA Program offers a more advanced level of competition for players who possess the appropriate skills, commitment, and abilities. The program offers provides development opportunities similar to club soccer though maintains the core AYSO philosophies – including a guarantee that all players will play at least half of every game. Players are selected through a competitive tryout process.

Tryouts are open to all age eligible players and traditionally happen once each year.

When we are able to conduct two tryout sessions…attendance at both tryouts is encouraged, but not required.

There is NO FEE to tryout, though all players must register for the tryout. and you do NOT yet need to have a current AYSO registration to tryout.

Costs, schedule, and other information can be found here:

EXTRA TRYOUTS CONCLUDED

EXTRA TRYOUTS CONCLUDED

A BIG thank you to all that have tried out for our Fall Extra teams!

We are working through the tryout results and are beginning to provide feedback.

For those genders and ages in which we will be unable to form a team as well as those players that did not get an invite this time around, may we kindly recommend your considering our CORE/Rec program and that of our Skills Training Program.

Both are able to take registrants now in the same website location whereby you registered for the tryouts!

Keep checking here for information on our next open tryouts!

Extra - Registration Info

Extra teams in Irvine play under the "Extra" name. Extra teams participate in AYSO's Section 11 EXTRA program during the fall, and either continue there for Spring or join the Spring Select teams. Players must try out to be accepted into this program. Tryouts are typically held once per year between the fall and spring seasons. Additional, smaller tryouts are occasionally used to fill teams that have open spaces. Players are notified of tryouts days/times via email and this website. Questions? Email [email protected].

Registering for Extra is a two-step process.

Register for Tryouts:

You must sign up for tryouts in our registration system. Regardless if you attend tryouts or not, this registration step needs to be completed.
*If you aren't sure if this is done yet, log in and look just below your participant's name and date of birth. If you see a program and age group, you already signed up for that program.

  1. Log in to your www.ayso213.org account, or create one if you don't already have one.
  2. From the main account page, click on ( x Programs Available! ) to the right of player's name.
  3. Find 2024 Extra, click on [View Divisions], and then [Select] your division.
  4. Answer the Program Information questions, and click [Continue].
  5. We are always looking for volunteers. But you can skip the volunteering step for now. If you are able to volunteer, you can do the registration portion when invited to the team or at any later date.
  6. Review your order summary. It should not cost anything for this portion.
  7. Finish the next few steps and you are finished once you click [Submit Order].

  8. You can see a 3 minute video walkthrough here

Joining the team:

If you are selected for a team, you will receive an official invite from the registration system, asking you to complete your registration.
(If you receive an informal invite by email, phone, or in person, you must still complete the online registration process to be on the team.)

  1. Log in to your www.ayso213.org account.
  2. Click on 'Tryout Acceptance' by the player's name, and accept (or decline). If you don't see this option, you haven't been invited yet.
  3. Review Commitment Letter (together with player) and then click Yes to accept, or No to decline.
  4. View and accept/acknowledge the waivers
  5. Consider volunteering.
