Code of Conduct

AYSO 889 Aliso Viejo Parent’s Code of Conduct

AYSO 889 Aliso Viejo Parent’s Code of - Conduct AYSO is a nationwide non. - profit organization that
develops and delivers quality youth. soccer programs in a fun, family environment based on AYSO’s Six Philosophies:

Everyone Plays®
Our program’s goal is for kids to play soccer so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least 50% of every game. It’s no fun to spend the game on the bench, and that’s no way to learn soccer!

Balanced Teams
Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible because it’s more fun and a better learning experience when teams of similar ability play. It allows for each player to gain the experience of a wide variety of teammates of different skill levels.

Open Registration
Our program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing. There are no elimination try-outs, and nobody gets cut.

Positive Coaching
Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment for the players and leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players. A coach can be one of the most influential people in a child’s life, so AYSO requires they create a positive experience for every boy and girl.

Good Sportsmanship
We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

Therefore, I agree:

1. I will not force my child to participate in sports. I know that my children are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment, not mine.
2. I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the region.
3. I will encourage my child to always play by the rules.
4. I will help my child work toward skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every game. My child will be a winner even in defeat.
5. I will NOT ridicule or yell at my child for making a mistake or for losing a game.
6. I will remain 3 yards behind the touch line, never enter the field of play and not stand behind the goal during play.
7. I will set a good example; children learn best by example.
8. I will applaud good plays by my team and by members of the opposing team.
9. I will never publicly question the referee’s judgment and honesty. The decisions of the referee regarding facts of play are final.
10. I will recognize the value and importance of the volunteer coaches, referees and officials and give them their due respect.
Without them there would be no AYSO Soccer.
11. I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from youth sporting activities
12. I will demand a sports environment that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at any AYSO game and/or practice where children are present.
13. I will adhere to the posted signs at fields and will not bring dogs to any of the fields during practices and games.
14. I will abide by all safety guidelines as outlined by AYSO Region 889, local and state authorities.

I understand and accept the league policy that if I violate the Code of Conduct, I may be asked to leave the game.
I also understand that violations in my pledge may result in my being banned from further attendance at games for the remainder of the season.
