Welcome to AYSO Region 94 - La Habra, Brea, Fullerton

Fall Season

Fall Soccer

Fall is the primary season of soccer. Fall soccer begins with practices in August and games in September. The season is 10 weeks beginning early September ending in November (number of games could be lessened due to weather). Our home games take place at Imperial Middle School.  All games are on Saturdays.  Upper divisions may travel to neighboring regions to compete.

Your registration payment includes a complete soccer uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks), picture package (you also have the opportunity to purchase additional pictures and other items), player insurance, and national membership in AYSO.

All players in non-competitive divisions (4U-8U) will also receive a participation medal at the end of the season. Competitive divisions are awarded medals or trophies based on standings and number of teams.

Volunteer involvement is critical to the success of AYSO soccer.  Region 94 uses a referee points system that calculate into standings (see Referee page for volunteer information).  All teams are required to meet the minimum number to points in order to advance to post season playoffs.

AYSO Region 94 is a true community organization - we rely on the help of our volunteers to create a strong, competitive, and successful program.  You will be asked to help out each season by coaching, assistant coaching, refereeing, team parenting, working snack shack, painting fields, setting up and taking down goals and nets, and other regional activities.  We provide free training for coaches and referees just before the season starts.  If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out a volunteer form - best is to do so as you are registering your player.

See the registration page for the current age chart. Region 94 adheres to USSF regulations and does not move players into other age brackets during the Fall Core program.

The Fall Core program consists of divisions 6U-14U.  In addition to our Core program, Region 94 also offers Flex, which consists of 4U, 5U, VIP, EXTRA, 16U and 19U. Information on Flex programs can be found under the "Our Programs" section of this site.

Post-season
Post-season soccer consists of regional play-offs, area play-offs, section play-offs, and the Western States tournament. We will post dates and information on these events in our calendar and game schedule. Teams must meet Referee volunteer points to qualify for post season play.

Tournaments

Region 94 encourages teams to participate in tournaments in order to encourage player development.  We help put together tournament teams to represent our region annually each Thanksgiving weekend.  See your division coordinator for details.  Players are responsible for tournament fees including referee participation and deposits.

All-Stars

All-Stars is an extension of the fall season for 10U-14U divisions. All-Star players are recommended by their coaches, who work together to create one team per division and age bracket.  It is a mini-season during the month of January where we create our best teams to compete against each region in our area (Area 11E). The 1st place area teams move on to play in the Section 11 All-Star tournament in February.

FAQ's:

When can I expect to hear from my child’s coach? Teams are handed out around the end of July. Practices can begin as early as August 1st. It is up to the coach to decide when to begin practice and have the first team meeting. You should hear from the coach by mid-August.

Who do I contact if I haven’t heard from my child’s coach? Please be patient, many families are on vacation during the summer months. If you haven’t heard from a coach by the 2nd week of August or if you have changed phone numbers, you can use the "Contact Us tab" to send a league email. The email will be forwarded to the team coach or to the player's division coordinator.

How are teams created? Teams are created differently depending on age/division.

4U is a buddy and me program with all player pairs part of one team. Depending on the number of players registered, there are several coaches who lead the activities.

5U is played jamboree style. All boys are on one team and all girls are on another team. There is one head coach and a group of parent volunteers who serve as assistant coaches. Parent volunteers must submit a volunteer form.  There must be parent volunteers to have a successful 5U program.

6U teams are created mostly by school. Parents may request players be placed on the same team by writing the other child’s name in the registration application. The division coordinator will make their best effort to place the kids together.

8U teams are created similarly to 6U except that the division coordinator attempts to balance the teams by having the same number of older and younger players on each team.

U10-U14 teams are created by draft. All competitive divisions rate players by skill level. Coaches turn in a player evaluation with player ratings. If the player is new to Region 94, they perform a skill test at registration. Before the season, coaches meet at the draft and select players from each skill level bracket to create balanced teams.

U16 & U19 teams typically register under a waitlist until a full team can be rostered.

Is there a more competitive program within AYSO? Yes, AYSO offers an EXTRA program. During registration we set up tryouts for EXTRA that are open to all players from U-10 through U-14. If it is determined by the evaluators and board staff that we have a team that can be competitive traveling to other regions without adversely effecting the Core league, an EXTRA team may be formed. There is an additional fee to play EXTRA. Fees cover tournaments and an additional uniform. In addition to EXTRA, registered players may try out for AYSO United through Area 11E.  For more information on United, please go to the Area 11 E website at www.area11e.org.

2024 Fall Soccer Program (Regular Season)

AYSO is an all volunteer organization! We are looking for coaches, assistant coaches, team parents/managers, and referees. You can register to volunteer at ayso94.org, and don't worry, we have coaches classes, referee classes and mentors ready to help you along the way (all free to our volunteers).

NOTE-Each Division registration is based on the amount of coaches registered and cleared to coach. A Head Coach/Assistant Coach is guaranteed to have their kid on their team and will be guaranteed a spot on a team if the coach is assigned to a team. Once divisions are full, players will be placed on a waitlist until a Head Coach is available for a team. Players of a Head Coach will be pulled from the waitlist first regardless of the date they signed up on. Waitlisted players will receive an activation email and will have 48 hours to complete registration and payment, if payment is not made, the registration will be cancelled and the spot will be given to the next player on the waitlist. Waitlisted players may cancel their own registration at any time before activation and payment.

A player that can provide an adult volunteer, in the form of a coach or referee, is generally guaranteed a spot on a team, even if the player is initially waitlisted.

More complete information will be provided on our website as we get closer to team formation and opening day for practices.
