AYSO Region 319 High Plains Soccer

Volunteers

Being an ALL volunteer organization, we are always in need of volunteers. At AYSO Region 319 High Plains Soccer, we never have enough volunteers and are always needing more, of course. Reluctant to volunteer because you know nothing about soccer or have a very busy schedule? You are in luck, we will train volunteers for FREE and teach you the Laws of the Game of soccer. All we need is some of your time and the willingness to perform whatever position(s) you volunteer for!

Please note all adult volunteers (18+ years old/young) are subject to a background check. ALWAYS be honest when filling out the application and remember you need a government issued ID when completing the volunteer application. Once your volunteer application is approved, you will also need to complete Safe Haven™ training as part of your position certification. This can be completed online by using the AYSOU tab using your same login information you used to complete your Volunteer application. We highly encourage volunteers to complete the AYSO CDC Concussion Awareness training. The more eyes we have on the players, the more awareness our Region has for signs and symptoms of a possible concussion!

Youth volunteers (12 - 17 years old) are always needed AND are just important as adult volunteers. We highly encourage players to also become youth referees. This is NOT a mandatory requirement! Youth can also volunteer as Assistant Referees, coach helpers (not to be confused as an assistant coach), Snack Shack helper and various other areas. Youth volunteers need to have a completed and signed Youth Volunteer Application by their parent/legal guardian. Youth volunteers will need to have their own account (created by their parent/legal guardian) so they too can complete the Safe Haven™ training in AYSOU.

All of us at Region 319 are volunteers. Parents, guardians, neighbors, relatives, friends and our proud military at Cannon AFB lend their time and talents so that each child gets a terrific AYSO experience. Having a volunteer foundation ensures that it’s all about what’s good for kids. It also makes AYSO very affordable. AYSO operates in a business manner, but volunteers ensure its “profits” are happy, healthy kids playing a sport they can enjoy for life.

AYSO has developed special training that helps volunteers who may have little or no soccer experience quickly gain the age-appropriate knowledge and skills they need to be effective coaches and referees. It also has unique administrative and management training. This ensures that each community program:

· Abides by the AYSO philosophies

· Offers a great AYSO experience

· Continues to grow, offering the AYSO opportunity to more children

It only takes a few hours to become qualified as an introductory-level coach or referee. But if you’re not able to commit even that much time, there are many small jobs you can help with. Even a couple of hours each season are an important contribution to your team and Region!

AYSO training doesn’t stop as long as you’re having fun. Referees, coaches and administrators have clinics, workshops and other advanced training available to advance their skills.
