Welcome to Truckee AYSO -  We are an all-volunteer organization providing a recreational Fall soccer program open to all children ages 4 to 15.  No soccer experience is necessary - this is the place to learn and have fun.  We feature non-competitive training for our youngest players and friendly competitive team play for ages 5 and older. Our emphasis is always on learning the game and keeping everything fun, safe, and fair.

Registration Period: April 15 - 30, 2024 (volunteers only); May 1 - June 10, 2024 General Registration
Waitlist established after June 10

Changes for 2024:

  • Volunteer-only registration: Volunteers are invited to register early April 15 - 30. By registering as a volunteer coach, referee or division coordinator you will guarantee your player a spot on a team. As an added bonus to honor our incredible coaches, if you register as a volunteer coach during this April window you can select your preference of practice days.
  • First-come First-serve: Players will be placed on a team based on the date of registration. Registration now will be limited depending on the number of coach volunteers signed up. Ensure your child is placed on a team by either A) volunteering to coach (we will train you!) or B) signing up early once general registration opens on May 1st (you can still register as a volunteer during general registration.)

Registration Dates and Fees:

  • April 15 - 30, 2024: VOLUNTEER-ONLY Registration, player guaranteed spot on team, and practice day preference for coaches. MUST also register as a coach, referee or division coordinator at this time, otherwise your player’s spot won’t be guaranteed.

$185

  • May 1 - 15, 2024: Early Bird Discounted Registration. Sign up early to ensure your child gets a spot on a team, and save $50.

$185

  • May 16 - June 10, 2024: Regular Registration. Space is limited, sign up early to ensure your child is placed on a team.

  • Additional Fees: $25 AYSO National fee and $2.75 SportsConnect Fee are additional, and are not refundable.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS

We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization. We rely on volunteers to coach, referee, and administer the program. We usually have roughly 800 players enrolled across 80 teams.

WE NEED COACHES!
No experience is necessary.  We will teach you how to coach.
All teams are led by Adult Volunteer Coaches.  It helps if each team has both a head and co-coach.  Read more about Coaching. For more info, contact [email protected].

WE NEED REFEREES!
We need Referees to keep our games safe, fun, and fair.
No experience is necessary.  We will provide you with free training and equipment.
Referees can be as young as 10.
Siblings, friends, uncles, parents, single parents, and grandparents are the core of our volunteer program.
Read more about Refereeing
Contact our Referee Team at [email protected] for more information.

Coaches and referees have frequently stated how much their participation changed their lives for the better

WE NEED TEAM PARENTS!
Teams also rely on Parents and other Adult Family Members to help manage team communications, organize the snack schedule, and other duties. Join the team!

WE NEED DIVISION COORDINATORS!
Division coordinators help arrange teams and schedules to manage information sharing and communications across a specific division to create the most opportunities for each player to play.

WE NEED BOARD MEMBERS!
We are also looking for Volunteer Board Members to help run the program.  There’s a lot going on behind the scenes!  Contact [email protected] if you’d like more information about volunteer opportunities on our Board.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Fall Program is open to all children born between 2008 and 2019. No experience is necessary.  Boys and Girls are divided into Age Divisions based on year of birth for team placement. These divisions allow for balanced teams and age appropriate development. Players cannot play “down” in younger age groups without medical clearance and only under league-approved circumstances. Just because a child is small for their age does not make them eligible to play in a younger age group.

Team Formation (6U and older)

Player assignment to teams is BALANCED by age, gender, skill, and experience so that no single team dominates. Same gender siblings in the same age division will be placed together.
There are no changes to team assignments once teams are formed, even if you have schedule conflicts with practices or games.
The league does not take requests for players to be on the same team. The teams must be balanced, this is one of the core philosophies of AYSO.

Practices and Games

Schoolyard 5U, and 6U:  No weekday practices, Saturday game @ Regional Park
7U/8U:
1 practice and 1 game per week @ Meadow Park or Glenshire Elementary
10U:
2 practices and 1 game per week @ Meadow Park, Regional Park, and Glenshire Elementary
12U/14U:
2 practices and 1 game per week @ Riverview Park (may play 1-2 inter-area games against NLT, Incline, or SLT, but most games will be at Riverview)
16U co-ed:
2 practices and 1 game per week @ Riverview Park (every other weekend will be a home game at Riverview. Expect to travel to Sparks, Incline, SLT and even Carson City.)

Soccer is only suspended due to lightning, thunder, or very-poor air quality. Expect communications to primary and secondary contacts when there are climate related issues. To ensure the schedule works for your family, volunteer to be a coach or division coordinator. NOTE: Players will not be reassigned if they have schedule conflicts with games or practices. This is standard in all seasonal sports and activities. Please make participation during the season a priority.

Uniforms, Equipment and Player Safety

AYSO provides uniforms, including: Jerseys, shorts, and socks.
Parents must provide: Shin guards and footwear (sneakers, or running shoes, or soccer cleats, or turf shoes). Players must wear their full uniform at all gamesNational rules stipulate that players not wearing the same uniform as their team may not be allowed to play in the games.Uniforms are not necessary for practices.

Safety is extremely important

Shin guards, which should be completely covered by socks, are required during practices and games, by National soccer authority guidelines.
“All items of jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewelry is not permitted.” [Laws of the Game]
The only exception are Medical ID bracelets, which must be taped down.
“Non-dangerous protective equipment, for example headgear, facemasks and knee and arm protectors made of soft, lightweight padded material is permitted, as are goalkeepers’ caps and sports spectacles.” [Laws of the Game]
Hard casts, splints with metal bracing, hats, or sunglasses are not allowed.
Open-toed shoes, metal-tipped cleats (baseball/softball), and toe-tip (football) cleats are dangerous and not allowed. [Laws of the Game]
