Volunteer Positions

URGENTLY NEEDED VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

We are 100% powered by volunteers! If you're interested in volunteering but not quite sure what you can do, we'd be happy to find the right job for you. Although some of the tasks are time consuming, there are many that are one time jobs or positions that can be done from home. Volunteering is rewarding and easy and the only way our Region can run smoothly and offer the best experience for our children. Questions? Want to Volunteer? Please contact us at [email protected]

Referee (1 needed for each team)

The official in charge of the match at every game. He or she is the independent arbiter and manager of the match. The referee’s authority extends to everyone at the field, including players, substitutes, team officials, spectators, and even assistant referees. Get the best seat in the house for your child's games!

Safe: The Referee's #1 job is to keep the game as safe as possible for the players. While there is risk in all sports, the referee is responsible for minimizing such risks from field conditions, equipment, spectators, and the players.

Fair: The Referee is responsible for enforcing the Laws of the Game in such a way as to keep the game Safe, Fair & Fun. The referee interferes with the game as little as possible, avoiding making calls for doubtful and trifling offenses. Referees only make calls for offenses they are sure occurred.

Fun: We want our kids to continue to play. They keep playing as long as it is fun. No experience necessary. We provide FREE training, supplies and mentoring. For any questions about the referee’s position, responsibilities and training, please contact our Referee Administrator (Simon Swegles [email protected])

Are you wondering how many players on a side, length of halves, restarts, and more? Check out our ‘Laws of the Game’ page

Coach (1 needed for each team)

Provide a safe, fun and encouraging environment for our children to play and learn the game of soccer. He or she is responsible for making sure each player play’s AT LEAST HALF OF EVERY GAME. The coach makes sure the children learn the skills appropriate to their age levels, learn good sportsmanship, and remain encouraged and safe throughout game play. The coach is also responsible for bringing the balls, any cones (or other skills/training materials) and the first aid kit to every game — or arranging for the assistant coach to do so. The game cannot start without a coach or assistant coach on the field, so the coach should try to arrive as early as possible before every game.

The coach is NOT ALLOWED to cancel any games (for weather or any other reason) without permission of the Regional Commissioner.

No experience necessary. We provide FREE training, supplies and mentoring. For any questions about the coach’s position, responsibilities and training, please contact our Coach Administrator (Don Woodruff [email protected])

Assistant Coach (1 needed for each team)

Help the coach during practices, pre-game skills training and to cover for to coach when he/she is unable to attend. Skill and tactical coaching is more effective if players can be divided into smaller groups. Coaches may not be available at some practices or games. If there is no assistant coach, there will be no practices and no games when the coach is away. (See coach’s job). No experience or soccer skills are required – just be willing to come and have fun with the kids. Assistant coaches, if they desire, can attend coach training. In fact, they are encouraged to do so.

Due to our Balanced Teams philosophy, Assistant Coaches cannot request to be placed on a team with a specific coach. For any questions about the assistant coach’s position, responsibilities and training, please contact the Coach Administrator ([email protected])

Team Parent (1 needed for each team)

Help make sure the team (both parents and players) are supported and informed of any needs/requirements throughout the season. This includes: distributing team rosters, handling any missing/incorrect uniforms, and scheduling team snacks. The Team Parent should also make sure the other parents on the sidelines remain positive and encouraging during play.

The Team Parent is NOT ALLOWED to cancel any games (for weather or any other reason).

For any questions about the Team Parent’s position, responsibilities and for any materials, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]
