AYSO Region 42 – Newbury Park, CA

Instructions for EXTRA Games for other regions

While Region 42 does not currently have an EXTRA program, these instructions may be helpful for those of you referees doing EXTRA games for other regions:

1. Pregame check-in
The referees will conduct the standard pregame equipment check.
a. Game Card. At that time the coach will present a game card with all rostered players listed in jersey number order. Players not participating must be indicated on the game card with sick or injured players so indicated.
b. ID Cards. The coach shall present player photo ID cards, signed by the Regional Commissioner (RC), to the Referee for player verification during check-in. The coach and assistant coach must have a photo ID, signed by the RC, visible at all times.
c. Player Registration Forms. As with any AYSO team, the coach must have the signed Player Registration Forms in his/her possession at all games.

2. Game Length
The preferred game length is 50 min. (U10), 60 min. (U11 and U12), and 70 min. (U13 and U14). However, the host Region may alter the game length to be consistent with their core program game length for the division/field. It is the responsibility of the coach to confirm the game length with the center referee prior to the start of play.

3. Field Size
The field size will vary from Region to Region. The home team will determine the field size based on field availability and player safety concerns.

4. Postgame Meeting
After the postgame handshake each coach should check the score and substitutions on their own game card. It is the responsibility of the coach to ask the referee to check their game card. If a player failed to meet the minimum playing time requirement, the reason must be listed on the game card (i.e., injury, arrived late, left early, etc.)

5. Reporting Scores
The host Region will report scores. Scores are to be posted on the Section 10 website within 24 hours of match completion. Information on posting scores will be provided to the Region EXTRA Program Coordinators (EPCs) by the Section 10 Webmaster.

6. Misconduct Reports
The host Region will report all misconduct using the Section 10 EXTRA Misconduct Report form on the Section 10 website. Cautions must be reported within 24 hours. Send-offs and coach/spectator ejections must be reported within 6 hours and no later than 8 PM on the day of their occurrence. The report may be completed by the Referee, Region EPC, or someone on the Referee staff. Misconduct occurring in EXTRA matches shall be included in your weekly report to your Area Referee Administrator (ARA).

7. Suspensions
Unless the RC is otherwise notified by the Area Director, Section Director or Section 10 EPC, suspensions will be served during the next scheduled game (or makeup game). See the Section 10 EXTRA Policies & Procedures, Section 17, Misconduct, for details on suspensions.

8. Game Cards
The host Region shall provide electronic copies of all game cards to the Section 10 EPC at [email protected], no later than the Tuesday after the game is played. Game cards should be scanned or photographed and a PDF file sent. The e-mail should include the date, division and teams in the title. The back side of the game cards need only be sent if they contain information relating to a Misconduct or Incident Report.
