American Youth Soccer Organization Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

AYSO Region 69: Brentwood/ Pacific Palisades/ Topanga

Welcome Letter

To the Families of Returning and Prospective Players:

As AYSO enters its 55th year with close to 550,000 children participating in over 900 local programs, I am proud to acknowledge that our local program, Region 69, once again was recognized as a Platinum Region for the outstanding programs offered during the 2017 season.  Every Region 69 volunteer made this possible – Thank you!

We ask for your continued support this season as we enter Region 69’s 44th season.  We are a volunteer-driven organization which requires approximately as many parent volunteers as players to maintain all of our programs and services.   We rely on at least ONE parent from each family to select a task and complete the Volunteer Form, or to be a team sponsor.   For further information, visit the National website at

AYSO’s vision is to provide world-class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives.
AYSO's mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs where everyone builds positive character through participation in a fun, family environment based on these six fundamental principals:

Everyone Plays
Balanced Teams
Open Registration
Positive Coaching
Good Sportsmanship
Player Development

We have developed our soccer programs to be age-appropriate and developmentally challenging based on our Six Philosophies, which are the essence of AYSO’s Mission and Vision and guide all that we do.

Our core program is the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields in the FALL.  This is where the large majority of our players start and fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime.  The above mentioned 6 philosophies are the essence of our core program, and all of our other programs and it all starts with Everyone Plays. This means that no player spends their soccer experience sitting on the bench, they play at least 3 quarters of every game. Registration is opened to any player in the core program regardless of ability, as long as there is space.  Teams are put together by gender and age, see AGE DIVISIONS, and are balanced in a way that makes playing soccer about the experience, not wins or losses. It’s not about blowing out another team with an unbelievable score; it’s about sportsmanship and learning to be the best possible teammate and opponent. Developing players is what we’re about because soccer skills and life skills go hand in hand. We want to get players on the field, provide them with good positive coaches, and teach them to play soccer.

The VIP Program (Very Important Players) provides a quality soccer experience for children and adults whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams.  The program is held Saturday mornings in the FALL at the Calvary Christian School field, and sometimes in the SPRING.

Our 5U division is about exposing children to soccer as a game, without the pressure to win. The children are introduced to soccer skills like kicking and dribbling in a fun and nurturing environment. Best of all, they find out that soccer is something they can do!

On Saturdays, there will be a one-hour time slot for practice and a game experience.  Our professional trainers work with the players for the first 30 minutes, then a 5-minute break, followed by a 20-minute game, with a 5-minute break at halftime.  Players are expected to arrive 5 minutes prior to the time assigned (no earlier) so they are ready when the trainers begin.

The 6U division is also all about exposing children to soccer as a game, without the pressure to win. The children are introduced to soccer skills like kicking and dribbling in a fun and nurturing environment. Best of all, they find out that soccer is something they can do!

Players will be assigned a team and volunteer parent coach for Saturday games.  During the week players can sign up for our optional 45-minute practice clinics.  Simply select the day of the week and location that works best for your family.  Then on Saturdays, join your teammates during your specified one-hour time slot for practice and a game experience.  Our professional trainers work with the players for the first 25 minutes, then a 5-minute break, followed by a 25-minute game, with a 5-minute break at halftime.  Players are expected to arrive 5 minutes prior to the time assigned (no earlier) so they are ready when the trainers begin.

The All-Star Program provides an opportunity for skilled players to continue their AYSO soccer experience at an accelerated level by competing in tournaments against other All-Star teams from neighboring communities and states.  All CORE players who have played in 3/4 of their league games (no more than 2 absences for reasons other than injury, illness, or late assignment) are eligible to try out for THEIR division’s  EXTRA/All-Star/Tournament Teams.  The Tournament Season begins with practice in December or January, and extends to June, or perhaps optionally longer, depending on the team.

The AYSO Extra program is a competitive soccer league, starting in the Fall, designed to provide a higher level of play for those players who possess the appropriate skills, abilities, and drive.  Games will be played with other regions from Area P as well as from Areas C, D and F.  The Extra program is designed to enhance each player's experience and individual growth through the game of soccer while retaining the spirit, organization and six philosophies of AYSO: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams (balanced through competitive bracketing), Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development.

Tryouts for the Fall 2018 season have already taken place and teams have been selected. Fall 2019 tryouts will take place in May, 2019

Our Regional Staff has been working with local, state, and federal officials to secure and improve our limited field space.  Our challenge continues to be the cost and acquisition of field space rental, maintenance, and improvements, thus it was necessary to raise the fee this season.

We are asking for additional funds to contribute toward field renovations and the rising cost of field rental, along with maintenance and improvement of all of the fields.

If you are unable to volunteer this season, this is an ideal way to still contribute in a meaningful way to our Region.

Your continued generous sponsorships and contributions are MOST appreciated.  Those who contribute $2,500 (Field Sponsorship) or more will receive special recognition. We urgently need your donations this year.

TEAM SPONSORSHIPS :  $500/1 player,  $750/2 players,   $1,000/3 players

DONATIONS:  any other amount

All Coaches and Referees must be trained and certified to comply with AYSO’s  SAFE HAVEN Policy, and there must be a ratio of 1 adult per 8 players at practices and games.  The SAFE HAVEN Policy complies with the CHILD PROTECTION ACT OF 1993 (volunteer screening) and the VOLUNTEER PROTECTION ACT OF 1997 (this provides protection to volunteers from lawsuits as long as they are trained and certified, following their job description, and are acting within the scope of AYSO’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.)   All new volunteers will be required to complete the VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM, showing a driver’s license at the onsite registration at Paul Revere.

AYSO's Safe Haven course and the CDC Concussion Awareness Training program are now MANDATORY for all coaches, assistant coaches, referees, board members and team parents.  It is strongly recommended that ALL parents take these courses (which are online and take less than 1 hour each).  Log in with your eAYSO Volunteer ID number, which can be found in the lower left corner of the Welcome page at  Then go to  Login there with your ID Number and name.  Click SAFE HAVEN.  Select and complete the course or courses.  It will be worth your while.  Once completed, you see the course(s) recorded in your eAYSO Volunteer record under "CERTIFICATIONS".

REFEREE POLICY

In order to provide safety and fairness at each game, the region needs approximately 300 referees to be trained and certified (one parent from every 5 families).
  • 10U, 12U and U14 teams that cover at least 18 referee assignments during the regular season will be eligible for playoffs.
  • 8U teams that cover at least 18 referee assignments during the regular season will be eligible to attend the Debbie Held Invitational Tournament in December.
  • 6U teams that cover at least 9 referee assignments will receive juice coupons.

Please read the Registration Agreement and Kids Zone Pledge carefully, and keep it for reference during the season.  Your e-signature on the online Player Registration Form acknowledges that you have read and understood the terms.
