Q: What does AYSO stand for?
A: American Youth Soccer Organization. 

Q: What kind of program is it?
A: This is a national soccer program where children are placed onto teams, learn about soccer, and play in organized games. 

Q: Who can register?
A: Boys and girls ages approximately 3-17 yrs. are eligible to play. (Approximately because depends on birth year)

Q: Is it ok if my child has never played before?
A: Absolutely! In our region, by rule, each child is guaranteed to play at least 3/4 of every game! 

Q: What does division 6U mean?
A: 6U means 6 years old and under.  8U means 8 years old and under and so forth.  Your child's division is determined by birth year.  

Q: How many divisions are there?
A: There are 9. Playground, Schoolyard, 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U 

Q: What division will my child be in?
A:  Division depends on birth year.  To find your child's division consult the following chart.

Q: How does Playground Soccer work?
A:  AYSO Playground is a unique program designed by child development and soccer experts to give your child a foundation for sports success.  Players and a parent* (or other adult) will participate weekly in age appropriate, storybook adventures.  Your player will hop, skip, jump, run, throw, balance, kick… and play. Playground participants meet once a week on Saturday and there is no team play.  *Parent participation is required.

Q: What is the Schoolyard program?
A: Our new Schoolyard Program (replacing U5) gives young children and parents a fun and exciting introduction to AYSO.  Once a week on Saturday, your child will learn the basic skills of soccer (like kicking and dribbling) through fun activities and participate in a friendly game.  Your child will learn the fundamentals to the beautiful game of soccer with you* (or other adult) right beside them!  *Parent participation is required.

Q: When are registrations?
A: For Fall Program, registrations are in April.  For Spring Recreation Program, registrations are in January. When they become available, dates will be posted on our website and Facebook page.

Q: What should I bring to a registration event?
A: For Fall, pre-register and pay online.  On the day of the registration event, bring your printed, completed registration form and birth certificate of child (if new to the region).  Spring Recreation registrations are currently done online only. See registration tab on website for all details. 

Q: Where can I get a registration form?
A: There are no more forms.  Registration and payment can be completed online right here on this website.  Click "Registration Instructions" tab for step by step instructions.

Q:  Do you accept cash or check to pay registration fee?
A:  We do not accept cash or check.  All fees must be paid online with a credit or debit card.

Q: When does the season start?
A: Fall season starts in August.  Spring Recreation season starts in March.

Q: When are games?
A: For Playground, Schoolyard, 6U, 8U, 10U & 12U, Games are on Saturday mornings at Schabarum Park.
For 14U, Games are Saturday mornings at Newton Middle School.
For 16U and 18U, Games are weeknights at Newton Middle School. (Only 16U & 18U have games during the week) 

Q: What about practices?
A: Practices happen once or twice a week on a day and time designated by the coach.  Typically 12U and below practice at Schabarum Park and 14U, 16U and 18U practice at Newton Middle School.  If you volunteer to coach, you get to choose the day and time that works best for you!

Q: What equipment do I need?
A: It is mandatory to wear shin guards for practices and games. A ball, cleats, and a water bottle are highly recommended. Uniforms (shirt, shorts and socks) will be provided. 

Q: What size ball do I need?
A: Divisions 6U and 8U use a size 3 soccer ball.  Divisions 10U and 12U use a size 4.  Divisions 14U,16U & 18U use a size 5 ball.

Q: Who are the coaches and referees?
A: The coaches and referees are volunteers. AYSO is an all-volunteer organization. The team parents, coaches, division coordinators and even the Commissioner of the League are all volunteers. The program doesn’t run without volunteers and everyone is asked to contribute in some way.
