The effective date of age determination shall be calendar year or the registrant’s age as of December 31 in the same year as the end of AYSO competition and end of Membership Year in accordance with US Soccer Player Development Initiatives mandates. The board reserves the right to change these divisions prior to season start, if necessary (e.g. number of players).

What is AYSO Playground?

·        AYSO Playground is a child development program. The objective of this program is to help develop, in collaboration with the parent or guardian, the child’s fundamental motor skills using soccer as a common thread. This is a non-competitive program that concentrates on developing soccer skills. They will not be playing games, but participate in fun soccer activities.

Playground is not a traditional soccer program -- there are no scrimmages, soccer matches, or practices. That begins at 6U in our Core Program. It is more like a "Mommy & Me" or "Daddy & Me" program. Challenger Coaches will lead parents and players through fun activities each Saturday. Parent participation is a must. Players participate each Saturday with their parent (or other adult) working with them on the field. There are no mid-week practices, just the activity on Saturdays. Your registration includes a uniform, photo, and award.

The Season

The season runs from August through December. Players should start hearing from their coaches in late July or early August.

Games

Most games occur on Saturdays, and most Saturdays from late August through November have games. There is also a chance some games will be held on weeknights. Detailed schedules will be sent out in August.

Practices

Practices occur on weekdays. It is up to the coach when and where practices are. The coach will let their team know practice schedules.

COVID-19 May Impact Our Season Schedule

Due to the uncertainties related to COVID-19 (e.g. school/park availability, city/county restrictions, AYSO national guidelines) there is a possibility that the season may be shortened or delayed (out of our control).  Because we have essentially cut the price in half this year to help families afford our program, we will consider a season of 6 weeks to be a complete season for the purposes of refunds (though we hope to have a longer season, like usual).  If we have fewer than 6 weeks players will be refunded on a prorated basis.  If the season in cancelled entirely families will receive a full refund, including the national fee and transaction fee.
