Registration OPEN for: SPRING 2019 Soccer Season

Hello Families:

The SPRING Playing Season will begin on March 2 to May 18, 2019. Practice for Registered players who have been placed on teams, will begin on February 11, 2019.

AYSO REGION 159 SPRING ‘Select’ SEASON AND DEVELOPMENTAL ACADEMY:

For the upcoming SPRING Season for 2019.... Again this Spring, we will offer an enhanced U-5/6 Academy Development Training program and limited regular playing circuits.

This academy skill development program is not just for the skill development of our kids, but it is also for the coaches, too. From the beginning, AYSO was built on its five tenants: Everybody Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, and Good Sportsmanship. A sixth tenant was added about 6 years ago-Player Development-which is really what this Academy Development Program is all about. In order to have player development, you need to also have coaching development. That is why the academy style program works so well for everyone.

Should my player participate in Select Play -or- Academy Development Training?

For the 2019 Spring Season, Region 159 is offering two programs. For 8U & above players: You can submit to participate in the traditional Spring ‘Select’ program, where coaches select players to form their teams, have practice sessions during the week, and then play a game on Saturday. With these players, the teams will ONLY be formed IF we have sufficient Volunteers (At least two (2) Referees per team, a Coach & an Assistant AND Field Maintenance personnel).

The second option is to participate in the Enhanced Spring Academy Development Training Program. This Program is for ALL 5U, & 6U players, as well as those 8U & 10U players that wish further development, before next fall season.

The Academy Development Training is designed specifically to enhance player development with professionally staffed training sessions during the week and then small-sided games on Saturday.

So for Spring, you have two choices for soccer in Region 159!

IF NOT SELECTED FOR A SPRING SELECT TEAM, YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE IN THE SPRING ACADEMY DEVELOPMENT-

The Development Training Academy is open to ALL players 5U to 10U.

SPRING SELECT PROGRAM

Our traditional SPRING SELECT play is where the certified coach “selects” players for their team; they will have a maximum of two (2) practice sessions during the week and then one (1) game on Saturday. If a sufficient number of teams are created in each division (8U, 10U, etc.), there will be an in-Region gaming circuit that will be considered as the same skill level as the Fall program.

In the event there are not enough teams created to play in-Region, then teams that are formed will be assigned to play in a gaming circuit against other teams in Area E (comprised of surrounding Regions & possibly Areas) that may be considered as the skill level of All-Star and above. As always, attempts will be made to place all players who express an interest in playing Spring Select; however, limitations due to availability of certified coaches, certified referees, other required Parent Volunteers, and fields may result in some players not being selected or placed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Remember that filling out the Spring Select Soccer form does not guarantee placement on a team; it only places your child on the selection list for certified coaches to select from to play on their Spring Select team. The Region will only be able to place those players for which there are coaches willing to coach teams & Referees willing to support that team.

Playing Priority team placement will be given to players whose       parents/guardians/grandparents/uncles/aunts, etc. are registered/certified coaches and badged referees (who were ACTIVE in matches from the Fall). Those adult volunteers of players, who are given priority due to volunteering, agree to volunteer in their stated area for the entire Spring season. Again, not all players who submit their form may be selected for a team.

  1. - Teams may be formed from eligible players in age groups from 8U thru 16U, boys and girls
  2. - Players are selected by certified coaches in January
  3. - There will be two (2) practice session during the week and one (1) game on Saturday.
    1. Players are expected to commit to these criteria.
  4. - Gaming circuit is within Region 159, if sufficient teams are formed in that division; if not, then

Teams will play in Area E gaming circuit (travelling) against other Regions and/or Areas

  5. - If selected for play, players will be notified of team placement in mid-February
  6. - Spring play March 2nd thru May 18th (ACADEMNY DATES ARE DIFFERENT: March 9th to May 11th) BLACKOUT DATES WILL APPLY in the Spring Season.
