AYSO 1390 Commission Meeting Minutes Monday Jan 24, 2022

AVCO Technologies Tazewell Pike  6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

 Attendees: Katie, Terry and Jasmine Jones, Allan Hancock, Chris Crum, Bethany Buchanan, Catherine Warner, Chloe Keener

  1. Registration for Spring season:  On line registration is open and on site registration will be held on Feb 19 10am to 2pm. March 1st is the deadline for interregional teams to be submitted to the area. Katie stated that she will finalize the list on Feb 26th. IR games start on May 19th with the last game being May 7th. This is a normal 8 week schedule. There will an Area Tournament games held at AYSO 1390 fields on May 13-15.
  2. Treasurer Report:  AYSO 1390 acct: $12518.76; KSA acct: $5639.57.
  3. Training:  Bethany, Chloe, and Catherine are going attend the Section 5 Expos in Chattanooga, TN the weekend of Feb 4-Feb 6. The Super Camp in Maryville is to be held in July.
  4. Work Days: Feb 26 9am to 12noon. To prepare the fields for the spring season. May 8,9,10, and 11 to prepare for the Area 5B tournament.
  5. Field Development: Catherine mentioned that there is a mosquito problem on the 12U field at the far east end of the complex. Allan mentioned that spraying may be needed. Catherine stated that 1 to 2 pallets of field marking paint needs to be ordered. Allan said this will be done closer to the start of the season.
  6. Field Equipment: The Bobcat skid steer had numerous problems that would entail more money to get fixed. Allan had it sold and a Massey Ferguson Model 236 tractor with front end loader was purchased. Allan said the seat on the WorldLawn Cobra lawnmower needs to be fixed and asked if Matt could do this. Allan stated that one paint machine had to be fixed and that both were winterized before this winter. It was stated that anyone using our equipment needs to be a registered volunteer. The insurance for the equipment annual payment is now $994.00. Bethany volunteered to put on draft strips at the bottom of the concession doors. The Long tractor needs the lead connector to the solenoid to be soldered. Allan and Chris will do this.
  7. Fundraising: Catherine suggested that one person be dedicated to fundraising. Just need a volunteer! Chloe said that we can have a site that is portal for sales, e.g. Amazon, etc in which a portion of the sales going to the AYSO account.
  8. General info: Also if it would be possible to send out a newsletter. Also asked if the AYSO website could have more generic information included such as games are on Saturday, when practices are held – this is helpful for new players that are enrolling for the first time. Allan will have referee T-shirts ordered and will order coaches kits, first aid kits, and stopwatches.
  9. Volunteers: Volunteers are needed in all areas. This is extremely needed for referees. All teams need to have their own referee. Any games without an uniformed referee will be a scrimmage game. Teams without a referee will not be admitted to the Area Games.
  10. Soccer Camp: A 10 and under soccer camp will be held at the AYSO 1390 fields on Feb 26 from 12pm to 2pm.
  11. Future events: AYSO National meeting will be held in Las Vegas on June 3-5. Section 5 games will be in Huntsville, AL on June 17-19th.  The next AYSO 1390 meeting is planned for April 28th to get ready for the Area Games.
