AYSO Does Make a Difference

I am the Safety Director for AYSO Region 498, as well as I run Soccer Central (concession stand) during Saturday jamboree and game day events. Today was our first jamboree. Our coordinator and coaching staff were going to be busy during divisional group sessions throughout the day at Dublin Park. This meant that our Uniform Coordinator and myself were also going to be busy at Soccer Central.

On the way to Dublin Park, I stopped by a local grocery store to pick up a few things in preparation for the day. As I was checking out using self-check, an employee of the store named Tammy said, "Hello, Mr. AYSO Safety Director." I returned the greeting. Then she began telling me how her daughter played soccer for AYSO for a number of years. While playing on several different teams throughout the years, Tammy's daughter made several friends. AYSO taught her teamwork as well as skills both as an individual and while on a team. AYSO help Tammy's daughter gain confidence about herself.

Tammy's daughter is now age 21 and works as a nurse. Tammy explained that thanks to AYSO, her daughter uses the skills she learned to help do her job. For that, Tammy is grateful.
