Safety

Safety first!

Hello Region 7,

This page will provide you with some important safety information for players, coaches, parents, and volunteers. At the very bottom of the page you will see a link to AYSO’s Safety Resource Page. On this page you will be able to find links for General Release Forms, Return to Play Forms, Incident Report Forms, Soccer Accident Insurance Forms and many other important documents. Included on that page is information about Concussion Safety, Dehydration Safety, Heat Related Illness, and Weather Safety. The AYSO Safety Resource Page is an excellent page to use if any questions come up that are not answered on the Region 7 website. And if you cannot find an answer on this Safety page or through the AYSO Safety Resource Page you are encouraged to contact [email protected]

AYSO Region 7

Safety Director

Shinguards MUST be worn by ALL players at ALL AYSO practices and games. There is no exception to this rule.

Players MAY NOT wear jewelry, with the exception of jewelry worn for medical purposes (e.g., “medic-alert” bracelets) but these must be covered by a soft material such as a wristband.

Players with casts MAY NOT participate while wearing a cast of any kind – please don’t remove the cast just so your kid can play… safety first!

Hard items in the hair, such as barrettes, pins, hard braid holders, and so on, are NOT PERMITTED.

These safety regulations apply to games AND practices. In a game, the referee has final say regarding safety of the players and their equipment.

GOALS need to be anchored. PLAYERS ARE NOT TO HANG OR PLAY ON GOALS. The number 1 reason for player injuries is playing on goals.

AYSO Incident Report Forms  AYSO Incident Report need to be completed for any player, parents, coach, volunteer, or referee injury. Incident Report Forms should also be completed for vandalism and violence. The forms once completed need to be emailed to [email protected].

AYSO offers Soccer Accident Insurance for our players and volunteers if they are injured at an AYSO approved event ($1,000 deductible applies). Information and the forms can be found at the AYSO Safety Resource Page. In order to be eligible for the insurance an Incident Report needs to be submitted to the Region Safety Director

Heading the ball in U12 and below is NOT permitted. This is a national guideline.

Concussion awareness is important and it is strongly recommended that coaches, parents, and referees review the Concussion documents on the AYSO Safety Resource Page. If you suspect a player has a concussion remove them immediately from the game and do not let them return to play until they have been cleared by their parents or hopefully a doctor.

Coaches need to have player release forms on hand at all practices and games. This form would be used by the coach in the event a player is injured and a parent or guardian is not available to make medical decisions for the player. This form MUST be with the coach or assistant coach at all times.
